Dillon 650 spent primer tube DIY

Post by O2HeN2 »

Built a spent primer tube since at least 10% of my 650's primers don't stay in the cup. I have an older style 650 so the commercial tube solution (http://dillonupgrades.com/xl650spentpri ... mount.html) was not available.

Parts from Home Depot:

Barb adapter http://www.homedepot.com/p/Sioux-Chief- ... 8268624953
Tube: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Sioux-Chief- ... /202309819
Cap screws: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-8-3 ... 7480051582

Throw away the female garden hose adapter and washer and keep the barb. Use the edge of a file to notch either side of the barb under the flange so it fits between the "fingers" of the bracket that hold the spent primer cup (the fingers that straddle where the spent primer comes out of the stage, not the fingers that hold the cup). Replace the bracket screws with the cap screws. Feed the tube into a wastebasket. The hose slides freely through a large cup hook to keep it away from moving parts.

Can also just drill out the bottom of a 44 spl/mag case and slide the rim under the stock bracket and slide a hose on.
