.338 Federal?

Be careful -- low-volume ratio loads can detonate. Mangement not responsible for load data. Use at your own risk.

.338 Federal?

Post by GSPKurt »

Does anyone here have a .338 Federal? I just ordered a McGowen barrel for my LR-308 and am looking for subsonic load data with 285-300 gr. bullets.

For 300gr bullets in 338 Federal, I use 13.4 gr of VV N110--about 45% fill.

Sorta in the ballpark on the info request.....I cast some 200 grain bullets in my RCBS mold today..........
8.1 grains of Trailboss came to ~1015 FPS
9.1 grains of Trailboss came to ~1065 FPS

Earlier tests using 250 grain Sierra Game Kings, 13 grains netted ~ 1015 FPS.

I should have noted that it is for a semi-auto rifle. I have also found that no subsonic load will cycle this semi auto rifle. So it's back to supersonic loads. Thank you to those who responded.

45 raptor would probably be your best bet for a subsonic semi auto AR10/LR308
