I'm surprised I'm even thinking about this, because it seems pretty stupid on its face.
Here's the thought:
I have a pile of pulled M2 and AP projectiles, a can of Trailboss and a Harvester on a old, pre microgroove Marlin 336.
Loading backwards has always seemed ridiculous to me, but suddenly is potentially appealing for short range sub plinkers in a tube fed gun.
Any thoughts on the subject?
How much Trailboss?
Crimp? No crimp? Factory crimp die?
.30 FMJ or AP pulled bullets loaded backwards for 30/30 subs?
Re: .30 FMJ or AP pulled bullets loaded backwards for 30/30 subs?
I saw a special on the History Channel where soldiers in WWI did this. It caused the steel plate the Germans used as shielding to splatter back.
Re: .30 FMJ or AP pulled bullets loaded backwards for 30/30 subs?
If you have true steel core black tip AP 30 cal projectiles, those have significant value. They are no longer available, limited to what is already on the market pulled from old 30-06 ammo. I'd trade you 3:1 170 grain RN (or milsurp 147/150 grain) for all of them you wanted to get rid of. It would be a waste to shoot them up as plinking/sub bullets.
