AR-10 SBR'S
AR-10 SBR'S
I don't see many of these AR-10 style guns like DPMS shorter than 16 inches. I guess I could just cut the factory barrel.

ETA - I stand corrected, I didn't think anyone did SBR lengths.

LWRC REPR uppers can be had in 12.7''
Re: AR-10 SBR'S
What kind of distance could I get from a 14 inch .308? I was thinking maybe cut and then pin my YHM Phantom qd mount.

Re: AR-10 SBR'S
I have seen a 14" bolt rifle ring gongs at 800 yard all day long.gunguy wrote:What kind of distance could I get from a 14 inch .308? I was thinking maybe cut and then pin my YHM Phantom qd mount.
Re: AR-10 SBR'S
I worry about carbon build up on the crown and not being able to clean it off(pinned qd).

I've never had an issue in thousands of rounds, bolt, AR308, AR15 etc. I'm not taking off my AAC brake mounts just to clean some crud off of the crown. IMO it's a non-issue.gunguy wrote:I worry about carbon build up on the crown and not being able to clean it off(pinned qd).

Re: AR-10 SBR'S
Just got an email from McGowan Barrel yesterday; my short 308 barrel will be ready within the week. I'd urge looking at them since I feel the price was very fair... cheaper than buying a used factory barrel and having it chopped/profiled.
It's a 1:10 twist midlength 14.5" with M4/govt profile and AR10 barrel extension. I'll be installing it on a DPMS LR308 upper receiver with DPMS delta ring pack, which I was assured that AR10 extensions are typically compatible with. I have a new style 51T Blackout for my SDN6 (still pending) that I plan on pinning and I'll be using an adjustable gas FSB to tune it for suppressed use.

Re: AR-10 SBR'S
All finished and headspaced! Taking it out to the range in a few days to sight it in and tune the gas system. Then it's just a few more months to wait on my 762SDN6 approval. Total weight is only 8.00 LBS unloaded on the scale as pictured. It's the same weight, same height, and 1/2" shorter than my 16" WASR/AK... except this guy shoots a .308
According to people that have posted data from the 14.5" POF rifles with 155gr TAP/AMAX the MV should be about 2525fps and with a fragmentation threshold of about 1650fps, the reliable fragmentation range should be 475-500yds according to my ballistic software. M80 ball goes about 2550fps too and I saw some posted data showing the 110gr TAP pill still screaming about 2860fps out of the muzzle of a POF 14.5".
Looks to me like this little gun will be more than potent well beyond any range you'd typically as a 14.5" to be shooting.
With room to spare for optic upgrades and suppressor
