10/22 BOLT LOCK??

Post by QuietMike »

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A DROP-IN PART OR DIY MOD THAT WILL LOCK THE BOLT CLOSED ON A 10/22 ALLOWING SINGLE SHOT FIRE BUT WILL NOT INTERFERE WITH SEMI AUTO WHEN NEEDED?

Get a magnet and shape to fit the ejection port - pull out to charge and slap on the bolt to lock it closed.

Stuck on the barrel while you recharge.

I used a dime for the handle as it is shiny and ease to find you can glue the magnets to wood or plastic - whatever makes you happy

15 min job after you buy the magnets - stick acouple - three in my case in the ejection port onto the bolt so it can't move put hot glue on them add handle add more hot glue - remove and add a bit of hot glue to joints from back - your done.

Here's the paracord loop I use, just run another loop around your supporting hand fingers, works fine.

Looks good if you have two hands available.

It's definitely field expedient.

I only use the thing when there's plenty of time to be sure everything's just right with the shot. Using an automatic as a bolt action works in a pinch, but it's not nearly as reliable as the true bolt gun.

Hmm, think I'll fire up the milling machine...gotta idea.

I need to come up with a lock for my Ruger Mark II pistol as I'm still thumbing that one. We await your milling frenzy results.

The device , uses the crosspin in the trigger assembly
to lock the device into position, just like when used
as a hold open situation. (which it can still be used to do).
If you can make it out in my (bad) picture. a small
addition of metal to the activating lever is added,
this is needed to give you something extra to get ahold
of. (to set the device)
I used JB-Weld to add a piece of metal to it , later finding it was a pain in the xxs , and changed to a small
nut and bolt inserted in a predrilled hole.
THIS ADDED after the weapon was completely reassembled.

does anyone sell a comercially modified bolt hold open/close? I could try modifying mine, but would much rather buy one ready made...

10/22 Bolt hole open

Post by Quietly-Effectively »

Someone was selling these at the creek in 2005. They looked like 1/8" aluminum cut to fit the opening, and they had a 90-degree handle. Just need to find some thick aluminum and shape it. Then make a 1/2" cut on the end, and bend up one leg 90-degrees.
