Time To Change Image of Suppressors

Post by Historian »

Musing over the slimy slithering of the looney left with words to confuse
and mind numb (e.g., Global freezing => Global warming => Climate change =>
"WGAF as long as we gain control over the masses" :) ) consideration should be given to going from
"Silencer" ( gangsters and assassins ) to "Suppressors' ( cloaked fascists ) to

"Sound Softeners" - for the environment, for the children,
for the planet.

Aside from the intended levity I truly believe that the community should control the
image reality ... no firearm is really ever 'silenced', especially for nefarious purposes.

A sound softener is like seat belts and air bags environmentally necessary for
reducing hearing damage.

I and my cohorts are now using 'sound softeners' in our teaching and explanations.
It is surprising that a more positive and accepting sense in induced to the listener.

As Lakoff* ( as Rush says rhymes with ..... :) ) has taught liberals he "who controls the word
controls the mental model".

Has the time not arrived that sound softeners be taken off the NFA register, saving
precious Government cost and manpower that would be better spent in nabbing
the really bad guys? Is it not a benign health protector for civilians, military, and
neighbors of shooting ranges?

Now that patriotic politicians are now being elected will this small but high
return minimum-effort change be passed? A blizzard starts with the first ice crystal.

Just an opinion.

That's EXACTLY how they are viewed in England, Europe, NZ, etc.
There are even some ranges that are restricted to suppressed firearms ONLY, because they don't want to bother livestock on nearby land!
I wish that we could sue through the EPA, OSHA, or Labor Dept that suppressors are useful for hearing protection. Earplugs don't cost a $200 Stamp. Seatbelts, airbags and lifevests don't require serialization, 200$ Stamp and onerous beurocratic oversight.

I did an Informative Public Speech assignment in college about death rates from autos, bathtub/swimming pool drownings, vs firearms.
10,000/1 ratio!
Yet Bathtubs aren't so highly resticted. :?
