Moving, but paper form 4 is in the process

Post by marv800 »

So, I'm about to move in-state, but my Form 4 application is still probably 5 months out. USPS mail forwarding doesn't extend this long, so when my stamp finally does arrive, it will probably go to the new owner of my current house. What should I do?

USPS forwarding lasts one year for first class mail, though I've heard it suggested that mail from ATF doesn't get forwarded anyway. You could try contacting the NFA branch to advise them of your impending move.

A Form 4 for a new item is mailed to the dealer and not to the applicant.

If it were a Form 1, then it is mailed to the applicant.
You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time...and those are pretty good odds.

Rather, to the "Transferor" to be more accurate...

When I moved instate with pending a few pending form 4s the NFA branch told me to fill out a 5320.20 application to transport. Instead of asking here you should ask the NFA branch.
