Everyone On This Site Scrupulously Obeys The Law ... why do politicians defy the law?

Over the years hear I have marveled at how careful our brethren have been in speech and in deed on all issues regarding making and/or acquiring suppressors. We cherish our laws because they are the bedrock of our Constitution and freedoms. If some are wrong we take the path of legally changing them as evidenced by
the effort to pass HPA.

From this perspective it is vexing to see politicians and governors who flout the laws by creating 'sanctuary' cities and towns which serve as an 'Oklahoma Territory' refuge in the 1800's for bandits.

Just today Chicago Mayor Rahm Israel Emanuel proudly announced that he will further hinder catching
criminal aliens. In America?

Wacky thought: RICO Statute

"Passed in 1970, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) is a federal law designed to combat organized crime in the United States. It allows prosecution and civil penalties for racketeering activity performed as part of an ongoing criminal enterprise. "

Mayors and governors have publicly met to announce their organizing to defy the laws, definitely profit in
many ways from their law breaking, and going a safe haven to criminals robbing, raping, and enriching themselves via illegal drugs and weapons.

As the seeds expressed here at this site grew to HPA might it be possible that echoing "Apply RICO to the law breaking politicians" might take root?

Historian...you are suggesting the neo-Hamiltonian viewpoint--building a crushing national government that eliminates all vestiges of Federalism except for little trifles.

Trump/Pence are doing it the right way, which is build the Wall and use the taking away of Federal money to cities and states that flout national immigration goals and who refuse cooperation.

SCOTUS has repeatedly smacked down the Feds when they use hijacking of state and local government to be minions of the Feds. SCOTUS has ruled that the Feds cannot order police to do the Fed's job; and neither can the states take over the immigration function of the Feds (lawsuit against Sheriff Arpaio and the State of Arizona).

If what you are suggesting comes to pass, then the States will escalate by arresting Feds who violate State law. Even the President is not immune from arrest for violation of the law. Do you want Chicago to issue a warrant for the arrest of AG Jeff Sessions if he shows up in Chiraq?

Police agencies (in various sanctuary cities) are falling into line with cooperating with the Fed's immigration policies over the threat of losing millions per year in Federal money. Also, Texas Governor Abbott is doing it the right way by asserting State pre-emption over sanctuary cities in TX and also the threat of withholding State money to these TX cities.

Johndoe3 presents a well thought out counterpoint. Thinking that States would escalate
resistance by arresting Feds who violate their state laws is not an option for them.

This was settled in the 'recent unpleasantness' (as my dear Southern friends
characterized in the 1960s) that occurred around 1860-1865 who the Legal Constitutional big
dog in USA political hierarchy was.

Akin to the response to the Pope who in 1930's condemned
the Third Reich by its leader with something to the effect " .. how many divisions does the Pope have!"

How many M1 Abrams does Moonbeam Jerry Brown have or Federal Marshalls Rahm command. :) :)

Doubloon demonstrates with his excellent historical reference
that each society is replete with those
who put their own veniality above the good of the people.

Still to be answered the efficacy of applying RICO to those polls who are breaking the
law, putting us deplorables and families in imminent danger.

If this very question is percolated beyond our small circle who knows
what new approaches could be taken against elected law breakers who have
contempt for all of us.

Starting this conversation could be compared to the thought expressed in
the classic song "Who threw the overalls in Mrs. Murhpy's chowder".

Stir the mental pots.
