Trust question

Post by Shane171975 »

I have seen ads to the effect of pay 99 for nfa trust and follow these directions and only the trustee has to be fingerprinted etc. The co trustees would not, is this accurate? Also if I set up a trust, something has to be in it before my suppressor can be transferred into it, is that correct?

1. Only if you add cotrustees after approval.
2. No

Is it legal to add co trustees after the weapon is transferred? Seems that would be questionable

another question, does the trustee have to be fingerprinted etc, for every item you choose to add to the trust? or is it a one and done type of thing. seems the wait times are up on trusts, and looking for a reason to go this route.

Yes, it's legal as long as no other forms are pending.

Finger prints every time. Yes it's complete bullshit.

If I was buying or or planning to build another can right now, I'd do a single shot trust from silencer shop. Look them up.

From what I understand, you have to be fingerprinted every time UNLESS the last application is within the last 24 months AND there have been no one added or deleted from the trust. In that case, I believe, it is just an application with no fingerprints required.

Seems like the only reason to still have a trust is so multiple people can possess the can or other toys legally. If you are on a trust with your Brother in law, either of you can take the can and go use it. If it is registered to you as an individual the only way your Bother in law (or anyone else) can use it is if you are there with them maintaining control of the item.

Possession is the reason I have decided to use a trust, even though trusts are taking longer now.
