Talk about a big waste of our tax dollars. Term, I assume in this context, is a length of time. This needs to be changed.
"Demilitarization" is the process in which ammunition is disassembled due to terms of military contracts. For example if a term of the military contract between Federal or Lake City is broken they are prohibited from selling the "live ammo" to the public. instead the ammunition has to be disassembled.
I wonder when this was enacted. I have several older bandoleers of 5.56 and 7.62 ammo I bought 8 or so years ago. This are steel tracer and set grass on fire so I don't shoot them much anymore.
Ammo manufacturers for Fed cannot sell live ammo to public once contract expires

It's been like that for a long while.
Don't know who enacted the contract terms.
Probably the same people who claim there is a such thing as a cop killing bullet or something along the lines of weapons of war or some such other foolishness.

If Military style Assault Weapons are too dangerous and have no business in the hands of mere citizens, then neither do Military Assault Bullets

That law has been in effect for almost 50 years now, I believe it was addressed in the 1968 Gun control act and then stiffened in the Regan legislation in the 80's. That said there is still a lot of military ammo floating around, I purchased a box full of gun stuff this summer and there was 500 rounds of 30-06 tracers and steel tip in the box, which does me no good as I don't yet own a 30-06. But have been thinking about picking up a M1 Garand in the near future.

I have an itch for the M1 Garand as well.BobbyJohn wrote:That law has been in effect for almost 50 years now, I believe it was addressed in the 1968 Gun control act and then stiffened in the Regan legislation in the 80's. It may be an internet myth but seems like I read somewhere that a person should not shoot current manufacturer 30-06 ammo in a M1 Garand.
I'd probably have to sell a gun to get it by my wife as there is no more room in my gun safe and I would have to buy a safe as well. This would be hard to hide after 28 years or marital bliss.
