Guns issue flairs up in Kavanaugh hearings

On Wednesday, senator DIFI (Feinstein) attempted to make a ludicrous application of the Heller and McDonald SCOTUS decisions during the Kavanaugh hearings.

Kavanaugh had reiterated that the Heller and McDonald decisions (written by Scalia and Alito respectively) did allow regulation of 'dangerous and unusual weapons'. DIFI made the point that AR-15s are commonly owned; but that she believed they were not commonly used.

Kavanaugh had to go on and explain to DIFI (Ms gun control since she co-authored the 1994 Clinton gun ban) that semi-automatic handguns and rifles are commonly owned and thus do not fall under the Scalia exception in Heller (of dangerous and unusual). Further, to the delight of anyone listening with a brain, Kavanaugh clearly made the point that trying to parse (torture) the point that commonly owned does not include commonly used is not an acceptable viewpoint.

What does DIFI think, that people buy and own AR-15s and then lock them all up in a safe and never use them?

Summary: Kavanugh's clear and logical understanding of legal gun precedents bodes well for us on the pro-gun side (assuming he is confirmed to SCOTUS).
