The new Guv of Oklahoma wasted little time signing into law Constitutional Carry for OK. The OK Senate passed the Bill early Wednesday and the Guv speedily signed it into law Wednesday afternoon (OK House 70-30, OK Senate 40-6). The law goes into effect on November 1, 2019.
Individuals will be able to carry firearms in Oklahoma without a permit or training starting Nov. 1, when a bill passed by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Kevin Stitt goes into effect.
The bill is the first signed by Stitt since he took office.
“As I traveled all over the state to all 77 counties, I heard from Oklahomans all over that they wanted us to protect their right to bear arms,” Stitt said.
He said he doesn’t think the measure will result in an increase in violence.
“I think the best defense for a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” Stitt said.
South Dakota made it 14 Constitutional Carry States, and Oklahoma makes it 15 States--Kentucky is also a strong possibility this year for number 16.
You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time...and those are pretty good odds.
