Has anybody here gone the LLC route in Texas? I would like to know if there are any annual filing or franchise tax requirements.

Yes, annual filing. If no profit, takes 30 seconds.

Well, if you are own the LLC as a SP, then the income reflects own your w-4. But in my case - my LLC is a management company, And I went the trust route to keep things separate.

The tax rules changed this year (Jan 1, 2008). Not sure about LLC but if < 300k you will be fine. Just fill out the state declaration.

I use a LP in Texas. I do usually have to send in copies of the Articles to ATF with the Form 4.
