I used to put "personal leasure/target shooting" but after reading various folks "reasons" and their reasoning behind them, "all lawful purposes" is the best all around answer.
Now I have herd that the ATF folks actually have a sence of humor with this box and reasons such as "to piss off the wife" have acually passed but I'm not willing to try those kind of reasons.

So they accept anything you put down, as long as its lawful?

I put "collector" on all four of my form 4's. I have a form 1 going through where I put the same thing on pending.

For my suppressor I put Hearing Protection, NFA Collection Enhancement, and all other lawful purposes.

There was a guy on AR15.com a while ago posted a pic of his approved form1. He listed "Zombies" as the reason he wanted the item.

See if you can get it passed if you write, "My neighbors dog won't shut the F--k up at night!"

Or maybe " my wife wont shut up"
I would foresee a kick back.

"collection"
(This means that your legitimate reason for possession is for the lawful purpose of collecting NFA item(s) consistent with all applicable laws and regulations.)

Never saw the form myself but a guy I knew claimed he put Hitman and it still passed. I have been told by several people that they really dont care what you put for the reason.

I always use "for my collection"
I've wondered what would happen if I put my model number as Cat-O-Matic-1. I'm not brave enough to try that one.
