SBR Form 1 requirements for Bolt action receiver

OK already run into a dis-similarity trying to use AR style form 1 compared to this build....

Savage receiver only has a Serial number marked on the frame. NO model number, NO Caliber..

Should I have these added to the receiver when I engrave my trust information?

I realize the barrel may be marked, with caliber, but it will not be marked for Model and/or the barrel markings may not line up or be visible.

At this point, should/could I could call it

Cty/State using postal abbreviations

The original serial number should match the original model name for a trace.

I don't think you should make up a model name for an existing firearm, probably best to contact the ATF if you can't find the model.

Interesting... had not thought of it that way since I was "making" it, figured I could assign a Model to it...

Its a Savage Donor Short Action, so it could have been a Model 10, 11, 12 or 16 most likely..

I think theres a Serial Number research capability at Savage, I'll have to find out..

Some new/unallocated donor actions, I really don't know how they would have modeled them...

Thanks Tex-Mex, I'll keep that in mind. I was actually able to find out the original Model numbers of each Savage bolt action receiver by going to their parts sales web site, and entering the receiver serial number.. Actually it was quite simple, and VERY useful, in that regard..

Since there has been a Model designation made originally by Savage, I'll probably stick with that, especially since its a simple 2-digit model number.

Caliber and Trust info is so many more characters, a few more won't hurt.. I'll be processing my first Form 1's using these, and I'm still nervous about popping that cherry...LOL So I'll be over-anxious as it is, and will probably make sure that I cover ALL bases..

That is good to know though, for when I am a little less jittery about my $200 and 6 months ...
