I know you "have to pay the bills," but have you noticed the pro UN gun ban ad that AI has through Adchoice? ETA: that display on this site.

Re: Amnesty International ad...
Just had an ad pop up promoting gun control and asking for support of Obama's gun control push.
Unreal.
Unreal.
Re: Amnesty International ad...
I would personally pay Robert the costs of running the site rather than have all of the pop up ads.

Install AdBlockPlus if you use Firefox or Chrome (for those who don't realize it, Chrome is produced by anti-gun company Google).
Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers permit you to block pop-up ads via a browser setting.

These aren't the pop ups, its the banner ads that Robert put on the website to help defer the cost of running this.mbogo wrote:Install AdBlockPlus if you use Firefox or Chrome (for those who don't realize it, Chrome is produced by anti-gun company Google).

I have tried blockers and they don't work in either Firefox OR chrome.

I have never seen any banner ads on this site with my current browser settings.

Not luck -- AdBlock. I didn't know the site had banner ads either.

AdBlock Plus, not AdBlock.
Also, you have to subscribe to a filter.

No, they're free. The filters contain lists of ads they will block.Bendersquint wrote:Subscribe as in PAY?mbogo wrote:MV10 wrote:Not luck -- AdBlock. I didn't know the site had banner ads either.

I've not seen an ad on here since they started. I run AdBlock Plus. It works great. Sorry Robert.

Re: Amnesty International ad...
Robert still gets paid for the ad even if its blocked, it just doesn't become visible on your computer.bakerjw wrote:I've not seen an ad on here since they started. I run AdBlock Plus. It works great. Sorry Robert.
I wish he could curtail the anti-gun ads though.
Re: Amnesty International ad...
It's using Google, so it's actually a mix of both types. Most are still just pay-per-click. If the advertiser pays for it, then the ad pays by view count. You need many tens of thousands of views to make a buck or two per day. There is no way to control which type of ad you get.
Considering I saw a series of "surge suppressor" advertisements when I briefly disabled ABP here, I'd say old Google has some work to do on their topic-matching algorithm...
