Head shot, on a pig, with a .177 airgun! Even at 1600 fps, except for the fact that it's on video (I presume the video is real), I would call B.S. Seems valid, though.

I've seen that before, there are more vid's like it out there. I've been a springer enthusiast for a while.

Don't underestimate the power of a good air rifle and a well placed shot.

I believe it's real. I bet it's happened tens of times.

But I bet more often than not they just pissed the animal off and the guy behind him with the .308 took the animal before it found a nice warm hole for one of its tusks.

Well I've got an AA200 MKIII in .177 and a BSA pcp in .22 but I wouldn't try to take a wild pig with either one.

And those new lightweight pellets they have on the market are to light for a springer, have to use them in a pcp or the new air pistons.

The footage of the hog shot with an air rifle is likely real (it's been done more than once) but it is grossly irresponsable. Gamo used it as a promotional clip for a while. Showing how 'great' their plastic pellets are. Shooting a 50lb+ animal with a goddamn pellet gun isn't good hunting. It's douchbaggery.

This sort of crap all over the internet just encourages stupid people to do stupid things. Stupid things like using a pellet gun to shoot an animal way to big to be reliably, cleanly, humanely killed with a pellet gun. No s--t. A .177 pellet may well kill something but it isn't likely to be a merciful kill. How many hogs ran into the woods with a leaky hole where there eye had been before these assholes got footage suitable for posting?

I shoot a lot of stuff with a pellet gun. Small vermin at close range. Anything racoon or bigger really calls for a powder burner. Use enough bullet.

Rant over.....For now..........

I would try to take a piggy with my .177 springer, but there is no way to mount a bayonet, and the stock would not hold up for butt-stroking the critter. Or did you mean you acctually want to shoot one? :D

Pigman did it this season on his show, however it was about 20 yards on a little piglet about the size of a cat. So a bit more doable.
