Fart Cans
Not cans as in silencers, but cans as in mufflers. Every mook in my neighborhood has one on some automatic, econobox turd and thinks it's a racecar, drives me up the wall. Some of them are actually adults. As long as I'm complaining about slow, loud turds, I'm gonna throw in Harleys, diesels, and straight piped pickups. Ok, done for now.
Proper grammar is awesome.

Copyright law should fix all that.
Just because you own something it doesn't give you the right to modify it or even fix it without violating copyright laws.

And what a horrible, godless world that would be.

Do the people in your neighborhood ride their bicycles with the seats pointed vertically by any chance?
Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death.

Ah yes, the Fast n Furious wannabe tuner cars. Sounds like a bumblebee trapped in a beer can, and move about as fast.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Re: Fart Cans
Oh, so you have the fast ones where you live.RJT wrote:Sounds like a bumblebee trapped in a beer can, and move about as fast.
Around here it's mostly cars with absurd lowering springs, completely whacked-out camber, tires too narrow for the wheels, a fart can, and a bunch of stickers to mask the peeling paint. On occasion they'll spring for a stereo with a box as well, but that's become less prevalent lately ("weight savings, y0!").
I've always been amused by the boosted setups where they run "high boost" of 5-7lbs.
On my toy/race car 35lbs is "low boost"...
That said, a properly built/setup Honda is a genuine force to reckon with. Though exceedingly rare, 1700lbs with 500+whp and good suspension/tires is no joke!

Re: Fart Cans
I got no beef with things that are loud, as long as they're fast too. Got lots of respect for true tuner cars, muscle cars, anything you've got blood and sweat into. Sticking a fart can on a 100whp Accord just makes me want to pull my hair out though. Right after my OP, I discovered the clown down the street stuck a fart can on his mom's 2.2 Impreza L. As a Subaru fan and owner, makes me want to go choke him out. Sounds like a Mr. Coffee that's been plugged into 480, doesn't even make a proper Subaru noise as he's running the stock A-EL headers.

I hate the sound of engine/exhaust brakes (Jake brakes).

I am also annoyed to death by "Ricers" as we call them. Almost all of them are as described so far.
But, I live close to the Bristol Motor Speedway and sometimes they hold regular racing events there with the usual classes of cars that you would find at your local dirt track. They are fun and inexpensive evenings. The last time that we went, they had the 4 cylinder class racing and these guys put time, money and a lot of effort into their cars. I was really surprised at how fast these true "Ricers" could run. No where near as fast as the winged sprint cars which were stupid fast, but still quite respectable for 4 cylinder power plants.

Many, if not most (or even all), of the cars above are now solidly into the 4-digits in power -- and that's only scratching the surface on a single platform as I can think of another half dozen DSM's in the same league as those above. Then add in the Subarus, Toyota/Lexus, Honda, Chevy (Ecotec), etc...
Making 400+hp/L still isn't "easy", but it's not like it was back 15-20 years ago either.
