Emotional support policies getting out of hand

Post by hardcase »

I read where someone tried to take a peacock on a commercial airplane as an emotional support animal. Another where a woman wanted the flight attendant to give her dog O2 because the dog was having a panic attack.

Has the world gone crazy?

There's cases far worse than that

Worse from varying points of view.

I'm not sure which story is older, the peacock or the hamster.

One woman claims airline personnel forced her to flush her support animal [hamster/rat/guinea pig] down a toilet before they'd take off.

The peacock story is older, but the same woman was involved in both stories, the same airline (Spirit) as well. And, the airline didn't "force" her to do anything, they offered the suggestion as an alternative to not being allowed to board the plane--there were several alternatives the young woman could have taken.

I wonder if the peacock has a diaper? Birds poop and pee out of the same hole.

Depending on what airline you're riding diapers might be required all round. Or maybe she's just seen Snakes On A Plane one too many times.

It's ridiculous. I live in a military town. There are lots and lots of veterans with support dogs. Fair enough, but it gets abused to no end. Every ass hat in the county brings their F-ing pets to the stores with them because no one will say no. I see jacked up dickheads with their aggressive dogs that bark at old ladies with tea cup poodles and I've even seen a pot bellied pig on a leash in Lowe's. No one will call bullshit because any and everyone who served in any capacity or who stayed at home worrying about their husband who served hundreds on miles away from any combat now self identifies as a "Hero" and we must worship the heroes.

Service and companion animals do help people, no doubt. PTSD is real and many who suffer from it are helped by having their support animals. .....But.... No one is helped by a fucking pig in the hardware isle. The roid jacked body builder in the monster truck double parked across the handicap spots with his pit bull bopping into Wal Mart is not really who those parking spots are for. No kidding, I see this all the time. Very physically fit guys in big trucks with handicap vet tags and a big, aggressive dog are just abusing the system because he's a "Hero" so he can park where he wants and bring his support rotty where he wants. Meanwhile, elderly ladies who need help walking have to park further out. But screw her, she's not a "Hero."

Don't get me wrong, there are some really great people here who gave and keep giving for our country. Unfortunately, there are also boat loads of self entitled little pricks who were that way when they enlisted, then a few years later they came out deeply convinced that they are heroes, and that didn't help them at all.
