Titan, mk-13 and 300 TM not for use on SCAR or Ruger Scout

Post by skierjt »

I just noticed on the AAC website that it mentions these cans aren't for use on the scar 17 or ruger scout. I have a ruger scout, sometimes I throw my titan on it and everything seems to be fine. Any reason for the new warning?

These silencers all are direct thread or have mounts that need to index off of the shoulder behind the barrel. Considering the Scout has no shoulder, it just has the front sight, nothing should ever be indexed off of it. I would highly advise not doing that again.

The Ruger GSR's front sight isn't just hanging out there, it is press fit onto the barrel and isn't coming loose without some significant effort. Mine is square to the bore and my 300TM shows no signs of bore interference and it stays nice and tight. It is the perfect can for this rifle.

No, actually it's not. It is threaded on and pinned. You may get lucky, but that is incredibly risky and simply not smart to chance such a big investment. There should never be a silencer indexed off of the front sight of the scout. It is not square with the bore.

When you get a strike and we have to re core it, don't say we didn't warn you.

So, which AAC cans are allowed to used on the SCAR 17S and/or the Ruger Scout?

Thanks!

Thank you very much, NickAAC! Now I fly to the parts of the forum that address those suppressors. :-)
