The pouch that came with my m4-2000 mod 08...

Post by ilintner »

Is the pouch just for storage and protection or is it heat resistant? Can I put my hot suppressor in there or use it to handle the hot suppressor without melting it?

Just curious, thanks!

Just flame test a small fringe loose thread.. Find a small spot of material that is not important and hold a flame near it.. if it starts to gloss over and melt that answers it... It does not take hardly ANY space to do this. An inside seam

My bet it's not a good idea.. If it's hot enough to not hold for more then 3-4 seconds I would not put it in there. Melted nylon on your can is a pisser to get off.

My favorite it to flame test "100% Cotton" and watch the polyester melt. Blow it out and smell plastic.

Made in China/Pakistan 100% cotton is about 3% mystery fibers. NOT good for gun patches.

But let's here from MIKE! What's the verdict...

I know my black nylon pouches will melt from back in 2007 I put my Cyclone in hot but not super hot. If I can hold it a few seconds it's cool enough.

UHHHHHH you will melt the s--t out of it. Let it cool first, go buy an Ove Glove to take it on and off and handle it before storing.

Damn it Mike, you have to be way more specific on this forum. Silencer pouch. SILENCER POUCH.

Oh crap, where's Hemi......

How many different pouches could have shipped with the M4-2000 suppressors?

Are some heat resistant and some not?

Some suppressors come with a black nylon "cheapie" pouch and some come with the nomex lined tan MOLLE pouch. IMHO the molle pouch is a must if you didnt receive one with your can.

Ive put my m4-2000 in that pouch when it was still just a smidge to hot to handle for a few seconds and its always been fine...no melted off material or whatnot....to give you an idea of how good that nomex material is, they line anti-mirage suppressor covers with it...the can obviously heats up with that cover installed so its taking all of it for a while.

My Cyclone/Evo-9/Prodigy did not come with that fancy case/pouch All of mine are like a mini mag light case... Black nylon with a flap with Velcro. Nothing fancy :-(

I've been using the Maxpediton pouch. It fits an M4 1k or surely a 2k perfectly.

Man that pouch above is sure nice. None of the three AAC units I got in the last year or so have anything like that, just a cheapo nylon pouch.

That's the same style pouch that came with my M4-2000.

Glad I got the Khaki/CB version, rather than multi-cam...yuck (no knock against the pouch, just the pattern).

My element came in a similar pouch, guess I am a lucky guy?

So this thing is nomex lined? Still waiting on the official word..after shooting a magazine out of my 556 SBR I was pretty surprised about how hot the m42k got.

Really? You're surprised that a big metal cylinder gets hot when you run super heated gasses through tiny baffles inside.

After 30 rounds it'll get hot enough to seriously burn you.

It's toasty. I recall it taking about 5-10 minutes to fully handle it.

In comparison to my friend's gemtech on his 16" ar it seems to heat up substantially quicker... but yeah I am aware that they get hot

I used mine to twist my SPR-M4 off when it's hot. No burned cover yet.

Same here, I have a brand new tan one I would love to trade out for a MC one. Also does anyone know if the MC Evo9 suppressor pouch listed on the website is the same as the M42k one and is there one for the Cyclone yet?

I have ashed the inside of my pouch up a bit. Tried to put it in there after dumping four mags through the can.

So, I wouldn't say it would hold a 'smoking' can.
