Holly s--t the new Prodigy is impressive!!

I went out yesterday with some bros and they were amazed. I had them shot it and stood back 20 ft and could hardly hear anything. Your new tech is simply amazing. I'll be giving it a lot of love.

Thanks!!!

Nm got my question answered on arfcom....I understand y it was taken off your site now. Look forward to silencer research testing the production version of the new baffle, the prototype did very well. This will probably be my next suppressor if it does well. :D

Well i figured this thread could use some pics. I really havent seen other folks post pics of thier Prodigys so i will go first. :) Feel free to post photos of how and on what gun you guys run your Prodigy!!! Before I do I just want to say thanks again to AAC for standing up behind their product and allowing everyone the option of trading for a new core. The new core is more quiet on both of my 22's below. It is also easier to clean and easier to unscrew after a few hundred rounds. I really enjoy it and it gets the most use of any of my toys. thanks guys.

Just shot my Prodigy after getting it back from the upgrade. This will finally be my go-to silencer for pistols. It has always been No 1 for my .22LR AR15 and my CZ452. Prior to the upgrade, I only shot it on a pistol once. It was just too loud compared to my Spectre and a local manufacturer's can.

Now, it is too close to call between the Spectre and the Prodigy. The fact that the Prodigy is much lighter makes it my No 1 now. The Spectre is still great, but I bought it for full-auto anyway.

fired my Prodgy upgraded can

Post by pistol fixer »

hello Jason;
well this is not sceintific but my son and i fired our Prodgy

1st and 2nd gen cans last night .
my son has a Sig mosquito with a 1 gen can and i have a Sig mosquito with the prodigy, i just received back from upgrade (2 gen)

we both used Fed. bulk pack HV. ammo from the same box.

the upgraded prodigy was a big improvement.
we fired both cans dry.
the first round pop of the upgraded can, was quieter than the third or forth round from the 1st gen Prodigy. actually i could hardly tell the difference between the 1st round sound signiture and the following rounds in the upgraded can.
i am totally blown away by the improvement.
we will try them both wet this weekend, then my son will send his in for upgrade.
we waited to send his untill i got mine back, so we could shoot them side by side.

Great Job AAC. you guys are the best.
now i need a can for my 20mm Lathi anti tank rifle.
thanks again

Full Auto Rating

Post by LibertyJacket »

Has the Prodigy always been officially full auto rated? I do not remember that from when I bought mine. Now the website says, "The Prodigy is rated for use on all .22LR firearms, including machineguns".

I have only shot about 50 rounds through my new core (Walther P22). But it was obvious that the new core made a difference on a pistol.

Night and Day.

The OLD prodigy was LOUD dry on my pistols. FRP was not hearing safe. IMHO.

The NEW core is amazing. On my CZ rifle 16.25" barrel with sub sonic's it's quieter than my pellet rifle.

The new core seems to build up lead quickly on my P22 with builk federal copper flashed ammo. It's as if the tolerance is tighter or the different blast chamber. It may have slightly more back pressure as it will jam up my TAC-Sol 1911 conversion quickly but it jams a lot anyway. :( Hard to tell. The P-22 just runs and runs.

Just Make sure you twist the tube a full turn every few magazines to cut through the fouling or you will have a hard time opening it. A tool for the blast chamber end would be nice. A wrench that fit into the cuts. Then you could really have an easier time of it.

Any suggestions on how to remove the lead from the inside of the tube w/o damaging it? I have been using a copper brush but that takes a long time.

It seems to be more of a problem with the new core... or maybe I am shooting it more and just don't remember how much or little I used it before. I also shot it wet a lot more. ... So shooting it more often & dry is probably why I am getting more buildup.

It is light, VERY quiet, mono core, user serviceable can.

Core Removal Tool?

Post by kalikraven »

Is this ever going to happen? I jacked up the anodizing on the core while removing it after a lengthy shooting session. A tool that grips the core could have prevented it.

On another note will Aluminum black take care of the finish? Is it durable?

I may just refinish the back end of the core.
Going a little more discrete here due to some of my opinions...

I wish AAC would respond to these.

1) A tool to disassemble. (Please make one!)

2) an approved process to remove the lead buildup in the tube, the baffles, and blast chamber.

Re #1 The NEW core has a very nice shape for a special tool to fit. I wish AAC would make one that fit the cutouts and had handle so you could get the force you need to cut through the lead w/o ripping your skin on your fingers or risk damaging the finish or metal if you slip with vise grips and a piece of leather.

Re: #2) The blast chamber .. Can we bead blast the blast chamber? Also, is that 1st baffle/chamber area steel?

Re: #2 the tube... Recommended way to remove the lead buildup on the inside of the tube?

Re: #2 The core... What media is safe and what pressure for bead blasting? Or other recommended ways of removing buildup w/o using a bead blaster.

Or do we just use .22 phosphor bronze brush and a .30 cal phosphor bronze and elbow grease for the core and a 10 or 12 gauge brush for the tube?

If so what is the best "solvent" to use that will not destroy the finish or the AL yet is effective.

Do we leave the blast chamber alone? .. If steel maybe a small screw driver or dental tools would work? Mine has a fairly good layer of mostly lead deposited in there. The P-22 and Hi Standard add lead quickly. The 10/22 and CZ not so much.

Now that I have the new core I am shooting a LOT more especially the pistols.
