EVO 9 CQB questions

Post by Wakko »

What are the pros/cons of the Evo CQB? Will it work on a 9mm 1911? Are there any upgrades available from AAC? What's the sound suppression? Thanks.

No it will not work on a 9mm 1911, the suppressor weighs to much to reliably cycle! There are no upgrades available from AAC, all upgrade have to be done elsewhere by a shop like mine. Sound suppression was worse than the full-size Evo9 and even worse than the ECO-9.

Unless you are getting it for about 200(plus stamp) I would personally pass. When I bought mine I practically stole it, was alot louder than I was hoping so I recored it and now its serviceable and quieter.

They were a decent can for what they were designed for....a hopeful military contract. The CQB's that are out there(everyone that I have found) were all left overs or extras made for that test cycle.

Cool part of history but if you want good suppression either go with Evo9 or TiRant if you are dead set on AAC toys.

Same here for that little its worth it, then you can have an upgraded core put into it and you are still alot cheaper than a new can! Compact size looks cool just wish it was quieter!

CQB? I have 3 and all mine say CQC. hmm. They are a great silencer. They dont get the credit they deserve. Loud.. A little. But does not sound like a gunshot. Wet they are amazing... Like my wife. :)

AAC made a whole bunch of variants of this mini sized can. I think there was the CQB, CQC, Navy, and another 1 or 2.

If you use Google to search, you can find more info and a few videos. IIRC The CQB was shorter and did not have a booster, the CQC had a booster. Both were basically short Evo's. Since the CQC has a booster, the pistons for the Evo worked with it.

Today, it would be like buying the TiRant 9S

As few years ago Polite Society had a few of each of the odd ball AAC 9mm silencers for sale as demo cans. CQC's, B's, Navy, etc. They even posted a great picture of all of them in a row. Of course, that post would be hard to find now and the image is probably gone too.

I found the ad on AR15, has more info on these...

That's the 'B', no booster. The CQC has a booster. Keep that in mind if you are purchasing one. The CQC's will work better on a larger variety of hosts (of course) and also has replaceable pistons. The B is a sealed, single threaded can. No pistons, locked in to whatever thread pitch it is.
