From research I'm seeing 1:8" is pretty versatile, but seems to excel with 75-80grain bullets.

It depends on the distance and what you are shooting. If you are shooting 600 yards then you generally want heavier boat-tail bullets to help with wind drift. If you are shooting 100-200 yards then lighter-flat-base bullets are the most accurate.
But if you care about terminal effects, then pick bullets known for that.
