Looking for .22LR subsonic ammo that will not cycle action
Looking for .22LR subsonic ammo that will not cycle action
This is for a Glock 19 with an Advantage Arms .22LR conversion. I want to cycle the action myself, but I don't want it to jam either. Ideally the slide should hardly move at all.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Aquila Collibri ammo! No gun powder, smells a bit funky but puts the rounds down range. The only 22lr ammo I know of that won't move the slide! Clocks in around 500-550fps.stevejobs wrote:This is for a Glock 19 with an Advantage Arms .22LR conversion. I want to cycle the action myself, but I don't want it to jam either. Only problem is it doesn't feed form a mag worth a darn!

Even if I manually cycle it? I need it to feed.Bendersquint wrote:Only problem is it doesn't feed form a mag worth a darn!

Problem is with the mag itself its a really short rounds and doesn't stack well I have tried with my Buckmark, P22(RIP), MK3 and can't do it reliably.stevejobs wrote:Even if I manually cycle it? I need it to feed.Bendersquint wrote:Only problem is it doesn't feed form a mag worth a darn!
Its a fun round just to show off at the range, single loaded, the gap in front of the bullet when loaded in magazinescauses nose dives and jamming.
I am working on a solution to this but other things are taking the priority over magazine r&d.

Ok thanks. Any other options I should try? I want to buy them all at once and give them all a test run.

Thats the only round I have ever experienced that won't cycle a pistol, not much of a call for it so manufacturers don't develop that stuff. Aquila is the exception to that rule.stevejobs wrote:Ok thanks. Any other options I should try? I want to buy them all at once and give them all a test run.
I have tried dozens of subsonic loads and they ALL cycle, except Collibri!

Will it shoot through a silencer ok?

The bullets have flown through Warlocks, Spectres, HEMS, Evo's, Nexus and a couple dozen other cans mostly 22lr's and never a strikes but be sure to do a stabilized check before you shoot it just to verify it is stabilizing!stevejobs wrote:Will it shoot through an Element ok?

Re: Looking for .22LR subsonic ammo that will not cycle acti
I thought they stopped making those.stevejobs wrote:What about these?
Those are very similar to the Aquila rounds and I believe they will not cycle an action either.
I had a box of them awhile ago and while it didn't cycle it it made my Buckmark action clap from trying to cycle. They seemed to hit harder than the Collibri as well.
May have to put some on backorder to do some better side by side testing.

I shoot Remington CeeBee longs in my pistol and it doesn't cycle. my 10/22 only cycles them because I have had work done so it will function.

Any chance you can find a heavier aftermarket recoil spring? Perhaps Wolff carries something suitable.
Speak softly, and carry a big stick.
Re: Looking for .22LR subsonic ammo that will not cycle acti
It might be better to use something under-powered, or sub-sonic, and then use your thumb to keep the slide from moving. I appreciate what you're trying to do there, but you might be better off with this simple course of action.

Winchester CB long match won't cycle any of my .22s. Very quiet in a bolt .22 even with out a can.

Re: Looking for .22LR subsonic ammo that will not cycle acti
I just got some of this in: http://www.cci-ammunition.com/products/ ... loadNo=960
It is full length, so it feeds out of 22lr magazines. It is 40 grains at typical CB velocity.
Rem CeeBee, CCI CB, and Winchester CB match are all staples for me, but they are low pressure rounds. That means that sometimes the casing doesn't expand to seal against the barrel, so you get a lot of noise coming out of the action, especially with semi-auto firearms.
I've fired just over 300 of the new CCI "quiet" 40gr rounds. They don't exhibit the same problem as all of the CB rounds do regarding "port noise". They are also more accurate - I have several guns that will shoot them into 1" groups at 50 yards, albeit at a much different POI than typical subsonic rounds.

Re: Looking for .22LR subsonic ammo that will not cycle acti
i was going to suggest rem cb's (same as other posters) but had not heard of the "cci quiet" product, clicked through to the URL and certainly did a double-take when i read their marketing numbers...
68 db's unsuppressed? That's pretty amazing. i'll try and find some and get real first hand experience before calling BS on that, but I find it hard to believe. maybe they're testing with a 72" barrel...

Re: Looking for .22LR subsonic ammo that will not cycle acti
It obviously isn't as quiet as they advertise, but it isn't as loud as any of the 3 brands of CB when fired in an unsupressed rifle with a 22" barrel.
I believe they are using really fast burning powder.
Same velocity, 33% more mass, more accurate (for several of my rifles), and less noise than CB. I'm pretty impressed with it.

That's interesting stuff. It looks like CCI is stepping up to fill the void left by PMC Moderators. They are a bit slower than the mods, but not by much.

Wasn't PMC owned by CCI or something like that? I remember CCI talking about their PMC plant at one point. Hmmm.finn wrote:That's interesting stuff. It looks like CCI is stepping up to fill the void left by PMC Moderators. They are a bit slower than the mods, but not by much.
I do love the Moderator rounds, they are nice and quiet yet never cycle any of my actions. Glad I stocked up on them when I did, though my cache is running low.
Re: Looking for .22LR subsonic ammo that will not cycle acti
I think it was PMC and Aguila, though I may have assumed this because they are both made in mexico.
The moderators actually cycle a kadet somewhat reliably.

Will have to get a Kadet and try it. I tried it on EVERYTHING including a P22 with a worn out recoil spring and it does nothing!
Sounds awesome on the 77/22 though!

Remington makes a CBEE long rifle hollow point at about 700 fps. Got mine from Midway.
