New and improved S series SL5 suppressor

Post by Tuukka »

We´ve been working for the past year on our S series suppressors.

The end result is a lightened variant of the S series S5 suppressor called the SL5.

The main difference is the significant reduction in weight from c. 600g ( 21.15 oz) to about 390-420g ( 13.75 - 14.8 oz )

Technical specifications:

Calibres
- .223 ( all .22 centrefire cartridges )
- .25 ( 6mm calibres, .243 Win, 6.5x55 etc. max bullet diameter 6.7mm )
. 30 ( all .30 calibre, non-magnum calibres )

Diameter: 44.5mm ( 1.75" )
Added length: 98 mm ( 3.85" )
Weight: 390 - 420 g ( 13.75 - 14.8 oz, dependant on thread piece )
Net sound suppression: 24-27 dB ( A-peak )
Material: 300 series stainless steel, fully welded

In addition to the thread mounting version, the SL5 is available as the fast attaching SL5-BL variant for 7.62mm bolt action and semi auto sniper weapons, either with a flashhider or muzzle brake mount.

To our knowledge, the SL5 is the worlds smallest and lightest steel made suppressor, that is hearing safe.

Currently in final product testing are SL7 models in .30 and .338 LM calibres.

Take Care!

Would the SL5 work for a long barrel (27") 280 Ack Imp (280 rem improved)?

Hi,

As to my understanding, the .280 AI cartridge provides magnum level performance, I would recommend the new SL7 for it.

We have generally limited the SL5 for non magnum calibres, not because of durability, but on the magnum calibres, the hearing damage threshold gets quite close.

We have not also sound tested that calibre on the SL5.

The .30 calibre SL7 suppressor has the following technical specs:

Overall length, 159-171 mm*
Added length, 144 mm
Weight, 530-550g*
Diameter, 45 mm

* Depending on thread type

Best Regards!

Hi Tuukka,

I own a .270 Tikka T3 Lite & looking for a mod to take the recoil out of factory 130 & 140 grain loads.

The barrel is 20" and it can get "punchy" over a few weeks culling.

My dilemma is should I go for the Northstar NS-3S, 630 grammes and approx 100mm overhang, or, the new S5 moderator, with slightly more overhang at 144mm but lighter in weight at 550grammes

My stalking in mostly Scottish open hill and weight can be an issue, more for rifle balance than actual carrying weight but recoil suppression is paramount especially when culling hinds and firing successive shots over a lengthy period of time.

I suppose my question is this, will the S5 be as good a recoil control as the Northstar (which I have used in the past and it has performed very well indeed)?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

The 550g weight is for the new SL7 suppressor, usually recommended for shooters who are looking at top sound suppression performance and do not mind that the suppressor is slightly longer and heavier.

With regards to stalking use, I would recommend the SL5 in .30 calibre ( we do not make a .270 specific model in the SL5 )

The SL5 weighs only c. 390-430g

A heavier suppressor like the NorthStar might have a slight edge recoil wise, but the SL5 reduces the recoil already quite well.

Best Regards!

Many thanks for the reply Tuukka,

Looks like the SL5 has a significant weight reduction than the NS-3

I'll try and locate a dealer in the UK and hopefully source the SL5

Glad to assist,

With regards to finding a local dealer, I would suggest contacting our UK importer, Jackson Rifles.

http://www.jacksonrifles.com

They only supply the dealers, but can help you in locating a nearby source for our products.

Hi Tuukka Jokinen
I also have a sako A7.270 and was thinking of getting a sl5 but am also considering the sl7.
I don't mind the extra weight and lenght if I thought the sl7 would give me more sound reduction and less recoil ?
What do you think Tuukka , would the sound and recoil be less with the SL7 ?

Regards from Ireland :)
