tubless can, blast chamber material
tubless can, blast chamber material
curious about materials. I'd like to make tubeless can for .556. I have some 17-4 for baffles with integral skirts as spacers. What about the blast chamber section of the can. What Stainless will weld to 17-4 cones well?

I can't think of single reason not to continue with 17-4

Just having to bore it out of solid bar. Was hoping stainless in tubing would work.

I have a stick of 1-1/2 316 SS DOM tube. I hadn’t thought about using it until now. You could weld your 17-4 baffles and mount to it.

I'm wondering how well joining 316 and 17-4 would work

Use 309L rod for filler if needed. I dont think you would have a problem with just fusion.
