NOMEX suppressor covers

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

I just sent Jason funds to make a cover for my AAC Ranger can. Since it will be a few weeks before I get it, I thought I would get a couple of questions answered. Are you using your cover on a suppressed semi or FA weapon? How does your cover hold up to sustained fire?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I use my cover on a AAC Cyclone. My rifle is a 22" GA Precision built 308 Win rifle. Sustained fire.....probably not, But I use the rifle/can for F class matches and it is pretty much 25-30 rounds as fast as the target can be reset. I do 10rnd strings in practise sometimes and never have I had the cover melt. After the string of fire is complete I can grab the cover - take the cover off and your hand would stick to the can.

He is making me one for my AR-SBR 223 w/can. As soon as it arrives I will put it though its paces also.

I would assume that sustained FA fire that will melt the finish off the can would destroy the cover as well. I think the weak link in the cover is the Velcro. Jason can give you the temp specs for the various fabrics that are used.

Jason is good to go!

How well does the cover deal with the mirage that comes off a hot can?

Just like putting a mirageband over a hot rifle barrel.

Without my cover I could not shoot more than 10rnds.

At 15x I couldn't get more then about 3-4 off before waiting for it to cool. :(
