How much can I get for my 357 sig ammo?

Post by silencertalk »

I have about 5000 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 125 grain hollowpoint in unopened cases. It seems like it is listed as over $1 a round everywhere but sold out, not in stock, no back order. How much should I sell it for?

That's easy. Sell it for about what you paid for it. :D

Put it on GunBroker a box at a time and let the games begin!

Someone put pictures of a Gander Mountain store with JHP .40S&W Remington ammo for $49.95 a box.

If I were sitting on that much and an interest in selling it, I'd put it up for $50 a box.

I was just in a store and they had 38 Special practice ammo for $63.95 a box. They had .308 $50 for 20 round boxes.

MidwayUsa and Natzhes have 357 Sig listed for $50 a box of 50, but it is sold out, no back order.

I don't want to deal with shipping just 50 rounds at a time. That is 100 shipments. I don't have time for that.

I am open to trading it for 9mm or 5.56mm at some ratio to be determined.

Based on original value that would be about 2.5:1 9mm to Sig.

Yeah, it is huge money. This is defensive carry ammo. Not practice ammo. Though I use it for practice. Though I am trying to cut down on calibers.

I too use it for practice(only I roll my own). I 'm surprised your getting away from that cartridge considering how you are with the performance of things??

I was thinking of an m-855 swap for ya, but eh, it would take a lot of m-855 to meet that price.

357 Sig is no better than 40 S&W and in some ways it is worse -- such as it is not 'pre expanded.' There is some evidence it is not better than 9mm.

All my guns are 9mm (sounds crazy I guess, but I love only having to buy ammo for one caliber lol). All my guns are pistols, besides an MP5. I don't hunt or anything... I just have guns for self defense, sport shooting, and fucking around (fucking around safely  )

I've always thought .357 sig was cool, because it is higher velocity than 9mm, so it has pretty good penetration.

Penetration would be the only thing .357 sig beats 9mm in... I think (as long as it is not a wimpy load). And penetration is important.

Other than that, I think it's a high-pressure, loud, snappy cartridge that isn't really too appealing to me. Eh, I dunno. I like 9mm.

I believe with carry ammo penetration is identical to 9mm. This is because all ammo makers tune the ammo to do 12-16 inches in gel.

Isn't the primary claim to fame for .357 Sig "barrier penetration"? When you look at carry distance through barriers with weight retention about the only thing that matches it in depth and % weight retention is .40 S&W 180s

Of course, "barrier penetration" is not (should not be?) a primary concern in SD for ordinary citizens.

At $900 a case maybe I'll sell a couple of mine, same GDHP.

Bought them cause I carry .357SIG for vehicle work. Might have 3-4k sitting in my garage . . . have things gone THAT crazy?

Yes, I had my dealer look up the current wholesale price. And I don't even think it was in stock.

They have Gold Dot (like what I have) listed for $600 per 1000, but it is sold out. I can sell it for $600 also if I did not have it.

Good to know. My guess is they are not wasting any time loading 357 Sig when they can do nothing but keep the line making 9mm, 40, and 45 until it stops selling, then move on down.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =128756056

I listed it. So someone who makes a $595 bid has a good chance to get it. I will see how this goes before I decide to sell more. If it only sells for $595 I will not even list the others as I can probably never replace them.

Ahhhhh that local dealer wouldnt have been in Lawrenceville would it?

DAMN thats pretty expensive. And I personally dont care for 357 sig due to its extremely sharp recoil and voilent recoil.

Had to end the auction. A gun store just bought the ammo for $30 a box of 50. They will resell it for $39.95 a box of 50. They are happy. I am happy, and it was the same price as the opening bid on auctionarms. Plus he took 135 boxes of it.
