Silencer shoot questions

Post by blkexp98 »

I figured i would make a thread for this years silencer shoot questions. I have atleast one and know some other people probably will too. Feel free to use this thread to ask them.

Do you have a tentative list of the manufacturers and dealers that will be attendig this year?

Do you know what subjects may be covered in this years seminar for those of us who dont have that locked in yet?

What kind of raffles will we be looking at? (I know this is a broad question since it involves other companies obligations so i wont be dissapointed if i dont get an answer for this.)

If it can be done could there be a setup for people to have their threads and mounts concentricity checked for free or a small fee? ( I wouldnt mind checking a 3 lug i have but other may want it done as well.) If it involves a lathe thats all you need to say. Ill definatly understand not packing one. :D

What subjects would you like to see covered this year? Last year we had a great presentation by Mike Stannard of Tornado Technologies about the nuances of barrel threading. I gave a brief talk/demonstration on the blackout flash hider. Trey Knight and some KAC personnel wowwed the crowd with a night vision demonstration. Al Paulson delivered a presentation on the use of silencers in training military personnel. Jeremy Feldbusch gave a short talk that introduced many of us to the work and mission of the Wounded Warrior Project.

Let me know what you'd like to see/hear, and I'll see what I can do.

There are going to be some great raffle prizes this year. Watch our blog for details over the coming weeks.

I don't think there will be any practical way to set up a travelling QC department to check concentricity at the seminar.

I shall be giving a dissertation on tracers and tannerite this year. Super technical so if you guys are not technically orientated you might get bored.

That tracer and tannerite talk should be interesting and i do like tech so thats fine by me.

How about a topic on barrel cooling and harmonics. Maybe some kind of description of how a plain barrel cools and vibrates. Then move to flutes and finally to the dimple pattern. (Sorry i cant remember the real name of the dimples KAC. )

Maybe something on muzzle breaks and comps. Dusk would be a great time for some demonstrations along with the tannerite and tracers.

For more of a suppressor topic backpressure and controling it with baffle and reflex designs.

Other than that ill have to give it some more thought. One other question though. I was going to bring my fiance and didnt se where females were free for it. Given that i asume i should order 2 tickets and hope i can get off work early and to there in time. Is that the case?

One other thing that may be nice is a "For educational purposes only" talk about using a trust for obtaining NFA items. It seems to be a hot topic that many of us use and dont know much about how it should be made. Even a simple handout would be sufficent if someone didnt want to get up and talk about it. It would just be nice to "really" know what goes into a NFA trust and how we can make ours more compliant without involving a lawyers time.

Did you have to spell check the word dissertation? I think the dumbed down version of what you just said was "I'm gonna blow some s--t up..."

-Do any of the other ideas i had for the seminar have any hope?
-What are the rules on shelters we may bring? By shelter i mean one of those fold up 10x10 type shelters. I thought about bringing one this year but wasnt sure if i could and where it can go.

Does anybody have a photo of Trey of Knights?? He wanted me to introduce myself this time, and if I go, and can find him, I'll be happy to do so, but it might help if I knew what he looked like!

I'm sure there's got to be one out there somewhere.

Oh yeah, and how does it work on the rifle range??? From what I could tell, some guys got there early, set up their stuff, and pretty much stayed there all day. How do I get some range time in there?

On the pistol range they moved off pretty regular. But I didn't notice that on the rifle range/side.

"orientated" Is that one of those words like strategery? :)

I've got a question.

Will individual owners have a chance to speak with any of AAC's R&D people regarding our thoughts for making certain products better?

If so, who should I ask for?
