i have the baffles and end caps soaking in a mineral spirit and clp mixture is it ok to leave them in it over night?
when i bought the element i thought the baffles were a goldish color. but after cleaning one with some of the mineral/clp on a piece of scotch bright it now looks all silver in color. is this ok? thanks, ron
cleaning element baffles

Ah...the infamous "dip". I believe that's 50% hydrogen peroxide + 50% distilled white vinegar. Not sure how long to soak the Element's baffles though. From what I hear, the Element's baffle material is perfectly safe for the "dip" procedure, right? I guess I can just scrub the tube and end caps with a brush and mild powder/lead solvent, rather than soaking also, correct?
From the mouth of the manufacturer
A reply from AAC concerning the Element:
You can clean it with whatever you clean your guns with.
No, Peroxide and vinegar will not harm the silencer parts or tube. However, it can warm you! So, please use gloves and be careful
Enjoy!

How does it warm you? I could see it harming you .... but not so sure about warming.1_ar_newbie wrote:True story!gkemper wrote:A reply from AAC concerning the Element:

one thing to do for SURE after 'dipping' if you do like i do with my Spectre is i plug the the threaded endcap and fill it with dip and it reachs the about 3/4's of the threads. BE SURE to rinse the threads completelty and use wd40 or clp or something to get rid of the dip in the threads cuz if you dont and theres some residue it will rust the s--t outta your non-SS barrel threads!

I seem to recall something about the dip being pretty toxic afterwards, and not being something that you'd just casually toss down the sink afterwards but probably want to drop off at your local toxic waste disposal joint.
Someone else can confirm it if it's true, but it sounded reasonable.

How about using Tecrolan sweetshooter,it is advertised as filling micro pourous cavities in stainless steel making it easier to clean and helps prevent leading and powder residue from sticking to the surface? Interesting to look at,see sweetshooter.com I have not used any but would like to know if anyone has tried it or if if works at all?
