Anyone with 300 Whisper experience?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Anyone with 300 Whisper experience?

Post by Tugnut »

I have a .30 cal muzzle can, and I'm thinking of doing up a 300 Whisper. I can't decide between a bolt gun or an AR15 upper. I'm leaning toward an upper by http://www.ar15barrels.com. I'm thinking of mostly shooting heavy subsonics with pretty fast powders like AA#5, but I'm not sure if they will cycle the action.

Any insights or experience?

Thanks for the link. That's a nice website, but there is very little suppressor info there.

I fired a .500 Whisper and it was delightful.

Which suppressor and which gun? How was the sound signature compared to more commonly encountered suppressed guns?

It was a Remington 700 style gun with a one-off suppressor. Seemed very quite to me. A lot quieter than the M16 I was shooting with an XXX Warrior the same day.

O.K. about to show my ignorance:

That is a One-Off suppressor.

You mean One of a kind?

I mean someone made it for that gun. I would say home-made, except he was a licensed manufacturer (but otherwise does not sell a line of cans).
