How to suppress a HK P7M8?
My wife has a P7M8 that she would love to suppress.
It seems like with the fixed barrel it would be perfect, yet I have no idea how you get an extended threaded barrel, or get it installed onto the pistol.
Anyone have any ideas they can clue me in with, or some links they can send me?
Thanks!

Interesting
I would have thought that the fixed barrel aspect of the P7 would have made it ideal for suppression, I am interested to hear otherwise.
If the P7 is not a good candidate for suppression, what other pistols, 9mm or larger, are considered the best choices? (Shooting for "movie quiet" or as close to as possible)
I suppose I should mention that I am looking for a quiet Dry can, not a wet one, though one that can be shot wet on occasion would be nice.
Thanks for the info, I find this very interesting.

I swapped the barrel on my P7 PSP and it was reasonably easy to do. I made three jigs/fixtures to help support the frame and allow the barrel to be pushed out as well as the new barrel pushed in. We used a big press at the local technical college for the actual swap.
The can is my own creation built on a 30mm unidirectional carbon fibre tube. It is 6.7" long and weighs a scant 130g (4.6oz). It is pretty good dry - certainly hearing safe. It is is very VERY quiet wet.

I want a barrel
What are the theads on the barrel and what can was used? How much for the barel?
Thanks,
Chris
Once you learn the wife can count toys in the garage you buy a gun safe. Now I need a new gunsafe and an airplane hanger.
Thanks,
Chris

No thread, just glue ...... or more properly epoxy, which is a lot stronger than "glue".Is it threaded, glued, or both?
I don't expect this can would survive a ton of abuse like a fully metal can would but it is strong enough for normal shooting rates. I have already put a couple of mags through it with no problems.
The thread is 1/2" x 28 and the barrel came from AAC. The can is my own design. What are the theads on the barrel and what can was used? How much for the barel?

While the carbon tube is high on the cool factor it actually isn't much lighter than the equivalent aluminum tube. It has quite a thick wall for strength but which ultimately adds to the weight.
I am in the process of making a version to fit a short recoil pistol to see if the extreme light weight of this can will allow it to cycle without a booster.

I think this is the same gun but better pics

Factory P7 barrel......
This is my factory, polygonal threaded barrel for the PSP. I shoot it
often. It's one of my favorite suppressed pistols to shoot. Not the
most "silent", but to my ears very pleasant. It's also wickedly accurate
suppressed.
I am thinking of selling it but really want to trade for a locking slide
Beretta from Knight's if someone knows of one?

Haha..That's me! Although I want that in my PSP. I have decided to go with an Hk barrel from AAC. It'll be all Hk part. Just thinking ahead if I don't like the project.Abiqua14 wrote:Here's an ad for a P7M8 threaded barrel over at HKPro:

As for the sight issue I asked above. From talking to Rsilvers, a can in the line of sight isn't to big of an issue with 2 eyes open. After all you don't focus on the target, its the front sight. I have never shot a gun with a can covering the target but I'd imagine I can get it to an acceptable level of accuracy.
Oh, that's funny! Obviously, the usernames are different, but I didn't even notice the avatar is the same.Frank Castle wrote:Haha..That's me! Although I want that in my PSP.
