Short barrel shot gun
Short barrel shot gun
Just curious, nothing more. I know most (if not all) of this hobby is personal tastes. Just want to educate myself if I am missing something.
Is there a real (i.e. realistic) difference in Serbu Super shorty versus a short double barrel?
The Super Shorty would have three rounds and the double would have 2. Is there anything else?
Reason I am asking is because (to me) it would seem the double would be less hassle, and potentially less prone to mechanical failure.
Aside from certain video games, I have not seen a short double barrel shot gun discussed much.
What is your take on it?

Although I haven't fired the Serbu it seems pretty cool, but I like my Stoeger SXS 12 ga. with 8" barrels better . Neither is very practical but the old-school cool factor of the SXS made me go that route. Also, I wanted a project so I did the shorty myself from a standard coach gun.

Crappy photo, sorry I'm not good with cameras. I still have work to do before it is finished but you get the idea.
What I have done:
-cut the stock with about 1/4" extra for shaping
-shaped the pistol grip with a grinder
-sanded/shaped grip to final shape
-polished rear piece of forearm (was blued)
-cut barells to about 8 1/2" on a bandsaw
-cut forend to match barrel length
-shaped forend with grinder and sander
-purchased and installed 1/4-28 3" socket screw forgrip attachment (old bolt was cut through when cutting stock)
-smoothed out/removed burs on end of barrel
What I need to do:
-re-checker the grip and forend (my first time doing so)
-final sanding
-stain/finish
-touch up blueing on end or barrels
-shoot it!

All form 1's are $200 stamps, but both of these fantastic looking guns pictured in this thread are AOW's since they arent meant to be fired from the shoulder, and would be a $5 tranfer to someone else.lobo56 wrote:Is that a $200 stamp>?
I have one of the SXS with 18 inch barrels that I would love to cut!!
Looks like a fun project!

Mine is a $200 stamp SBS, I could put a stock back on it if I was so inclined. (I'm an SOT, so the stamp cost wasn't an issue.) In theory, one could do an AOW on a O/U or a SxS platform if you could find or a "virgin" receiver, but good luck, that's kinda like the Holy Grail of the AOW world....
