220 grain 7.62x39 advice needed

Be careful -- low-volume ratio loads can detonate. Mangement not responsible for load data. Use at your own risk.

220 grain 7.62x39 advice needed

Post by YugoRPK »

I picked up some Speer .308" 220 grain bullets and I'm wanting to load up a few 7.62x39 subsonic loads that will cycle an AK action. Anyone got advice on a powder charge to start?

I have Red Dot, 4759 and Unique powder sitting around.

13.5 OF 1680 will cycle for me. make sure the OAL is no longer than 2.114 to keep the pressure up. If they are not round nose bullets you will likely get keyholing out of the ak at 50yds
