Here's a hypothetical.

Could you have an SOT make the SBS for you, and then purchase it as an SBS from the SOT and only pay the $5 transfer fee? If so, is there a company that does this already?

Please excuse my ignorance, I've mostly avoided SBS's because I didn't see myself putting $200 into the stamp for one. But for only $5....

The ou SBS surprisingly looks really cool. Got me thinking of two of them attached together at the receiver for a 4 barrel. I have no idea how many stamps that would take. Can you do a build it yourself from scratch SB shotgun on a form 1?

My understanding, is that if it is a normal long gun, modified to have AOW requirements, is still considered a SBS because it started as a long gun. If you had a virgin receiver (If someone kissed ass up and down to get a few from the manufacturer) then yes, the SOT could make a AOW.

I do believe you could make a AOW on a form one if the receiver is not registered as a long gun.

But after watching Lucky Number Sleven, I want a SBS double barrel... Might as well buy now when i can afford it

I went with the O/U SBS. I kept the stock and I'm glad I did. 3" magnum buckshot would be ridiculous without it.

You've got SBSs and AOWs confused. If you did want a double barrel AOW, short of finding a Denny's or Norrell's Auto-Burglar for $1.5-2k, you're stuck with a combo gun - permanently install a rifled barrel liner in one barrel and chop. Presto, it's an AOW.

I never liked the Serbu as a "practical toy".
I have a Rem 870 that is a SBS (12.5" barrel), and I think 3rds isn't fun enough.

As far as a double barreled shotty. I have one of them too, but I didn't want to have to do a form 1 and all that wait and hassle so I built an exposed hammer bouble barreled shotgun with 10" barrels, but the secret is that its a Black Powder gun..... Its not a gun as seen by the ATF. So I have the coolness without having to do the paperwork... The only problem is that its not a 12Ga but some sub caliber like a 20ga or in between.

I always thought I would prefer an OU shorty more than a SxS. Figured it would make for a slimmer profile and the larger forearm would be easier to hold.

Speaking of SBS's...... I just fondled my NIB 870 police magnum SBS at my dealer yesterday... and I have the receipt of what the dealer in Nevada paid for the gun from the distributor.

Let's just say that if anyone pays $500-$600 for one of those guns, they are getting screwed. You should be paying low to mid $400's....... I paid like $420 I think. Dealer price seems to be in the 3's.

I always wondered why they almost never show up for sale and when they do they are so expensive... it's because the dealers fucking price gouge. It doesn't make any sense though, because it's not there is a shortage of these things. Any NFA dealer can buy these from any Remington LE distributor....

I have seen someone pay $700 for one NIB, which is just not right.

Guess it depends on your idea of a fair profit margin though...

Its a nice idea until the price goes way over board.

Those are very cool. If you want more firepower, anywhere from 5, 8, 10, 12 rd. drums and mags, 20 round drums, consider this gas operated Saiga-12.
