For Sale Section

What happened to most of the for sale ections? I only see 3 subforums now.

I am removing them to make the site compatible with google advertising rules. They don't allow sites that have guns for sale.

Would this add be acceptable in the accessories section?

Troy BUIS - $2000
also include AR-15

what's with the ads? Is there a way this can go back to user supported?

I really appreciate the donations people sent. I think the best way is if you want to help but hate the ads, please donate whatever you feel comfortable with from time to time - to [email protected]. And then run an ad-blocker so you don't see the ads. Or you can always block the ads in any case. But putting up with the ads does help support the site and it helps me if you don't block the ads. They are not in the messages so they are not really in the way.

Thank you.

That's kind of odd, we list just about every product on our website with Google shopping, including guns.

Google claims it is just because people who place ads might not want their product being advertised next to a gun being sold. Google shopping would not have that issue.

wait, what? You really thought it was a good idea for one of the most popular NFA websites to delete its FS forum?

I understand the financial considerations of running a website, but I am really shocked that you would choose to do this. If you want ad revenue, there must be a way to have gun-related ads and not cave to Google's retarded anti-gun rules.

Are you trying to generate revenue or just cover the expense of running this site? If you're just trying to cover please reply with how much it costs annually to host with Fluid Hosting.

Not trying to offend but I would prefer paying out of pocket rather than caving to the wishes of Google. And not to mention seeing ads for E-bay who are extremely anti gun.

Or blocking off certain sub forums to subscribed members.

As bbp asks. Is it to generate revenue or support site maintenance costs?

IF we can drop 5k no a rifle then we can drop a few bucks to you. If this is a for profit website I understand but if this is a I just need to cover operating expenses like the previous poster stated tell us how much it costs and we can come up with the funds.

The alternative is I become an ad salesman and call gun companies and try to sell them ad space, and then implement custom code to display the ads and remove them when the period ends. The overhead in the time of me doing that would be more than I can allocate. I am not saying I don't already put a lot of time into the site, but at least what I have been doing I enjoy. I don't enjoy selling ads. I know no solution is perfect in all ways and I am sorry for how it effects some people.

I understand but what I was asking is if you're doing the ads to recover costs or generate revenue. If you're covering costs please share with us the amount you pay annually to Fluid Hosting.

Why can you not just have a paid subscriber thing. Have the people that donate a certain amount listed as premium members and throw them a bone or 2 to make them feel special. We are willing to help you out give us a price.

I will put the for-sale section back as soon as I can code in a conditional to not show the ads in that section. Maybe some code like this:

http://www.webmasterworld.com/google_ad ... 934571.htm

As for what Fluid Hosting costs, that is not much. The problem is the time I spend. The true costs are higher than any bills I have.

I don't want to do anything which would limit the features to unpaid users.

Yet they advertise diet pills, porn, and other crap, but guns aren't any good.

Not like I used the FS section anyway.

How about you move the FS section to a separate domain.

The for sale section was not very active. The best thing about it was that it was free.

I planned on putting three host for sale in there this weekend, I guess now I'll just have to ask for apprasials on the guns and advertised on another site.
Going a little more discrete here due to some of my opinions...

Just post some pics in the photo gallery and casually mention that you're thinking about selling them.

I've snagged a few choice items on your firearms & NFA for sale section, so I'm sorry to see it's gone. It wasn't the busiest section for sure, but owing to the uniqueness of our shared passion it was a good place to find the occasional rather unusual item. I hope you can figure out how to remove AdSense ads just from that section.

This is the first I've learned of the Google Ts&Cs containing something anti-gun. That's outrageous. Even more outrageous than soliciting donations through anti-gun Paypal! You might as well give the VPC a cut of your proceeds! Do Microsoft and Yahoo have similar restrictions?

There are other free places I can move stuff quicker, the only reason for me to advertise here is to give someone here first crack.

Keep the NFA section. If we didn't want guns...we would go to nazibay.....
I sold the full size Vector yesterday and I believe it was your site that generated the sale.
SAD to see it go...

We do have free NFA postings on our dealer directory..and we would like to see more traffic. Anyone that wants more exposure is free to post there.
