Form 1 Finished

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Form 1 Finished

Post by Bowen1911 »

K, got it done
1 inch 316 stainless tubing with .049 walls
304 stainless for internals
Just over 6.5 inches overall length

Tried to copy a Spectre
If there is anyone near northern idaho that has one, I want to compare

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq-XG3tn7s0

I can shoot it with a wipe at the end, and it is scary quiet. I am proud of myself for not having any machining training, and being a poor 20 year old college student.

See if a local gunsmth can stainless blacken it for you. Powder coating may fill the stamping on the tube in,causing more headaches.

Caswell sells a stainless blackening kit which has produced good results for me.

Good looking stack. Did you turn each one manually, or were they done on CNC?

It was good handle cranking practice then, eh? You're only making a few, so nothing wrong with kickin' it old school. Looks like you learned something from it as they all look good. Seriously, they look great. You should be very pleased with the results.

well, for the endcaps, I just free handed the length, and the thread relief. and for everything i used the mill for i free handed it.

But i did actually pay attention to the graduations on the lathe, and it made everything a hell of a lot easier

That is outstanding work brother. I never knew the action cycling could be so loud...
I listened to a Walther 22 with a Gemtech after yours and I can't hear any differance.

Man,that is nice work!I'm thinking I'd like to build one thats similar, only maybe like 5.5" and with an aluminum tube.Would you be willing to share some basic dimensions on the baffles?I and probably a lot of others would sure appreciate it.-Mike

I don't have a scale to measure it accurately, but solidworks estimates it at 8.3 ounces

bore- 17/64
used a 5/8 inch 60 degree countersink for the inside
baffles are about .040 thick
used a 3/16th endmill and free handed the scoops and holes.

I'm very interested in your design. I've been drawing up some stuff on Solidworks myself and testing it out on FloXpress. May I please get a copy of your SW assembly and check it out on the simulator? I want to see the comparison between putting in all baffles vs baffles and spacers (which is what I have drawn up currently)
