Can a friend borrow a suppressor?
Still new to suppressors. Live in TX a friend a few towns away wants to borrow my Outback 2 for the weekend. Is this within the BATF rules?
Re: Can a friend borrow a suppressor?
The short answer: No.
The long answer: Hell No.
The long answer: Hell No.
"Your" does not equal "You're", the contraction for "You are".

You must be physically present for it's use. The only time that suppressor can leave your possession is if you are sending it back to the manufacturer for repair or it's locked up good and tight in your safe.
I don't have any friends worth risking the consequences for. Why not take your friend shooting? So long as you are there, and the NFA item is under your control, all is well.

Thanks to all of you for clearing this up!
Re: Can a friend borrow a suppressor?
well if it's a part of a Trust and you add them as Trustees, i guess they can. not 100% sure on that though.
Re: Can a friend borrow a suppressor?
That's a big advantage of trusts. My wife can possess the suppressors because she's listed in the trust. You do have to be careful with who is listed however and make sure to have an attorney make sure the trust is valid for your state as well.

Well yes it's hyperbole, but only to re-inforce that it's definitely NOT a good idea.
Plus it's a quote from Office Space.

Has anyone seen my stapler?
Re: Can a friend borrow a suppressor?
So....another question is: Once an item is listed under a trust, submitted and Form 4 all processed and all that, can you change the trust to add a person, say like a wife, to it? What is the process involved in that?
"Your" does not equal "You're", the contraction for "You are".

Yes you can amend your trust, I have made a change to mine. It was not a big deal to add an amendment.

Re: Can a friend borrow a suppressor?
When you admended you trust did you resubmit your trust to the ATF or just have it noterized?
Re: Can a friend borrow a suppressor?
Was it a Quicken Trust or other? I would like to add my Dad as a trustee to mine and I am not sure how to do it.glocker17 wrote:Yes you can amend your trust, I have made a change to mine. It was not a big deal to add an amendment.

Re: Can a friend borrow a suppressor?
Funny story, Swingline actually didn't make a stapler in red before that movie came out, but after it came out SO many people called about it that they decided to make one.700PSS wrote:That's it! I've been looking all over for that!Kramer wrote:

If the suppressor in on a Form 4 through a NFA trust, ad him to the trust and he is good to go.
