Re: KAC T1 battery cap
Thanks Kev. I was curious about the battery orientation as well.
Oldschool, if you didn't make it into the list for the 10 free caps and you need one, you can have mine. I was going to hold onto it for a future build, but if you need one now, you can have the one Casey is sending me. Just let me know.

Re: KAC T1 battery cap
Do you need to always run the cap with two batteries, or will it work reliably with just one? Just curious if the battery should happen to run out (and my T-1 has been 'on' since 2008) and you swap in the new battery in the field, do you need to use the old battery as a spacer (assuming you aren't carrying yet another CR2032 elsewhere)?
Re: KAC T1 battery cap
Some folks have had no issues running the T1 cap with one battery. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of them. No matter how tight I got mine, the battery would eventually work its way loose. I found that it doesn't take much movement at all for the battery to loose a good connection. The cap can be very tight and the battery move just a hair within the assembly and loose current. I think this is one of those "better safe than sorry" kind of things, so I threw a spare in mine. After KevinB confirmed the design was intended to hold two, I finally figured why not? As long as it will not cause any issues with the T1 circuitry and the battery won't corrode, I've got 8-10 years worth of battery on my rifle at all times.JSGlock34 wrote:Do you need to always run the cap with two batteries, or will it work reliably with just one? Re: KAC T1 battery cap
Just an update:
I got my freebie cap from Lawmens yesterday. Thank you, Trey, Kevin, and Casey.
I'd never had issues with the caps since I started using a set back in late May. However on installing this 3rd one I was getting some issues like the T-1 turning off suddenly. Besides greasing the threads I think I've pegged the issue on install.
I'm thinking the rubber O-ring basically when installing the cap while the scope is vertical, is coming loose and putting pressure on one edge of the battery, causing it to kick up and lose contact. I re-installed it while holding the gun sideways making sure to slowly screw it on till it was concentric to the battery. I then tightened it down, wiped off any excess grease, no fuss, no muss.
If you don't run a second battery that may be a process worth trying.

Re: KAC T1 battery cap
Because we are using the cap as the turning devise it has to be a tight fit. Other wise you would unscrew the cap. It will probably come with an extra battery eventually and the next batch will have a smaller logo. Thanks to valuable input here.

What can one man do? You never know unti you try.
Re: KAC T1 battery cap
Lawndart, are you saying that your o-ring came loose? Mine is glued into place and has not come loose after taking it on & off several times. Is there any difference in your caps between the thickness of the o-rings or depth of the cap's interior? I'm wondering if there isn't some tolerance difference between the earliest caps and current production.lawndartdesign wrote:Just an update:

Re: KAC T1 battery cap
Mine easily came off, I suppose some super glue would fix that.

Got mine yesterday... I love you guys.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
Re: KAC T1 battery cap
Okay, i see what you're saying. I can see how the o rings might cause the battery to tip to 1 side if it was not centered.lawndartdesign wrote:Mine easily came off, I suppose some super glue would fix that.

Re: KAC T1 battery cap
Just got mine today, the o-ring looked glued on but came off pretty easily with just my fingernail lifting it up. I placed it back in the grooves left by the glue, pressed it down and it stuck there, no amount of shaking and banging would dislodge it. However I will probably superglue the o-ring when I get home. I'll post photos later of what I observed.lawndartdesign wrote:Mine easily came off, I suppose some super glue would fix that.

Re: KAC T1 battery cap
Something going on with these? Can't seem to find them at any of the vendors that did have them:
Valkyrie Tactical status: page removed?
King Optic USA, status: on order...
KAC online shop, status: page removed?
Where did they go?

Re: KAC T1 battery cap
The caps seem to be out of stock more often than they are in stock. I'm sure they will pop up again at all the usual places after the next production run.
