If I have a properly registered suppressor with BATF, and drop dead, what happens to it?
Who then owns it? If my wife or kids want it, do they have to get another $200 tax stamp, and where does it stay while processing?
What happens to a dead man's silencer?

They get distributed from the estate or get destroyed.
Unless the dead man set up a will the latter is more likely.
Tax exempt transfers ... Form 5 to transfer to an heir.

If you have a properly registered silencer? Don't you know?
If a NFA owner dies it would go to who he left it to in the will. Who every is the executor of the estate possesses it until the transfer to the legal heir is completed.

NFA shooters blow their load with only one pull of the trigger.

I do not think it was a question but a statement.

Best to put them in your will if you can. I have mine going to a person via a trust. Form 5 is the answer. I have a DD I got on a Form 5
Long distance, the next best thing to being there!

Yep. My revocable living trust specifically states who gets what, and under which circumstances.JohnInNH wrote:sassparilly wrote:If I have a properly registered suppressor with BATF, and drop dead, what happens to it?

This is totally the way to go. Another advantage of the trust!caporider wrote:Yep. My revocable living trust specifically states who gets what, and under which circumstances.JohnInNH wrote:sassparilly wrote:If I have a properly registered suppressor with BATF, and drop dead, what happens to it?

I personally plan to haunt my firearms collection when I die. That's what will happen to mine...so hands off, suckers.
