Factory threaded barrels, AAC has them.

Post by silencertalk »

Glock has long held out against the (awesome) trend to bringing out “Silencer Ready” pistols for the consumer market. At long last there are factory threaded Glock Barrels available to the US Firearms Market. AAC, AcuSport (a leading distributor in the outdoors and shooting sports market) and Glock worked together to make this happen.

This past year AcuSport began distributing the full line of Advanced Armament Suppressors and their bringing Glock on board to produce factory threaded barrels is a Win/Win for everyone in the market. Initial runs of barrels are for the Glock G19 (9x19mm) threaded M13.5x1LH and the Glock G21 (45Auto) threaded M16x1LH.

These barrels are an exclusive to AcuSport, who began taking orders from Dealers in January. The barrels have just come into stock and will be shipping to your local dealers. If your dealer doesn’t have these on order, please have them contact AcuSport ASAP . . . these will no doubt go FAST!

Does it still have the standard unsupported Glock chamber?

1. It's a factory Glock barrel, so I'd imagine it has the same chamber specs as all the other ones.
2. The "unsupported" chamber isn't really an issue on 9mm and .45 barrels as much as it is on the 40's. Even then, it's really not much of an issue at all.

Robert,

You should see if AAC can do QD mounts and barrels Glock was using for their disposable 45 cans. That would truly be a first.

When I called, AAC told me to go through an Acusport dealer. It sounded like on the blog that AAC actually was selling them, but they aren't.

Unfortunately Acusport doesn't have a directory of dealers on their site, nor will they answer emails. This is fucking bullshit!

To build on this - Acusport is one of the distributors that has a selective retailer business model, meaning they will not sell to kitchen table FFL's or any FFL that they deem not suitable for a retail operation.

As many of us know - many businesses in the NFA industry are far from "retail operation" as some work out of Class A office space 7 floors up and others work in a machine shop. This limits accessibility to their product and the only option is to find a dealer that is able to deal with them - and order from them.

Crazy, I know - but I had one large national vendor that will not be named not give me an account with them because I did not meet their minimum square footage devoted to duck blinds and mossy oak apparel.

You too? I'd have to work IN the duck blind while wearing the Mossy Oak stuff to have it in stock.

The real question is how much will they be?

I know they said they will be making runs of G19 and G21 barrels first, then others will follow. Which is unfortunate because Im looking for a threaded G17 barrel. So if its gonna be the same price and faster to buy an OEM G34 barrel and send it to ADCO for threading to run on a G17 then thats what I plan to do.

Some will say to just get an LWD threaded G17 barrel. But for me thats not something I want to do as Im not a fan of JR over at LWD. Id rather someone else have my money.

So, if anyone knows, how much will the OEM threaded barrels be going for? Is it worth it to wait or should I just buy an OEM G34 barrel and send it to ADCO for threading?

I picked up one of these barrels for a G19 a couple weeks ago in Tulsa, Ok. This week I got to try it out in a new Gen 4 19 and it ran perfectly.

With all the Lone Wolf barrels I've ran in the past I've had to have a one to three round break in period and then they ran fine. With the factory one it shot perfectly from the first round to the last.

Accuracy was as perfect as could be asked for. And I fired a little over a box of 50 subsonic rounds with my Trident 9 on the gun. The gun cycled perfectly every round and everything was as it was expected.

Does the O-ring really help keep a can from loosening?

In my experience, yes. I've used my Evo 9 with .5x28 and M13 pistons. The standard threads backed off several times. I didn't want to bother with teflon tape on the threads so I swapped pistons and barrels. The metric booster has never backed off.

I spoke with AcuSport a couple weeks back and they told me they are on order and theyre just waiting for Glock to manufacture them at this point.

I'm with Emilio, what is the reasoning behind choosing to go with the less prevalent metric thread pitches?

I would be curious to see what the sales differential percentages are between 1/2-28 versus 13.5x1LH for the 9mm gun and .578-28 versus 16x1LH for the .45ACP guns.

So, in addition to a barrel that costs well over $200, which doesn't even come with a (cheap to them) thread protector, I now have to also purchase another $70 piston for my LCD? That earns a serious WTF in my book. But more importantly, no sale to me.

With the TiRant 45 being multi cal friendly now I've developed a serious interest in a factory threaded barrel for a G 22. Has there been any information on when these might be released?

Any word on when another batch of these threaded OEM Glock barrels will be released? I'd really like to pick up a Glock 17 threaded barrel.
