Hi new member building 6 suppressors** Updated for .308
Hi this is a segment I've already posted other places but I want to become a member hear
It's taken a while to decide what I want to build but I've finally decided on 4 suppressors to build
I've been a machinist for 24 years and have access to a full CNC machine shop with some know how with Gibbs cam.
This is my list
1. One Idea I got from looking at the aac-m4 2000 for my AR
2. two versions of something that looks like the sparrow with improvements,
one for my sig 22 and the 2nd for a custom build on my m&p15-22
3. A integral suppressor for my ruger 10/22
Each one will take me about a day so it should be pretty quick
Photos to come

Re: Hi new member building 4 suppressors
This is my first build on a smith & Wesson m&p 15-22
And this is the core.. I have a sparrow but I dident want 16 inches of barrel plus 6 inches of suppressor plus I plan on useing hyper volicity ammo
I needed stainless and at the time sparrow dident come in stainless .... I also wanted a larger blast chamber
The center of the baffels have a larger devide wich I think helps out with the high volicity ammo

Re: Hi new member building 4 suppressors
This is my suppressed AR-15
And with out the suppressor I cut the barrel down to 16 and1/4 and made a titainum end concentric to the bore within .0005
The suppressor slides on the barrel with .0005 slip so even if it comes lose half way it will never give a baffel strike
When I was out testing my new suppressor I met a guy with a lightning link and he was very kind to let me test it with my new build

Re: Hi new member building 4 suppressors
This is the baffles I went with they are heat treated 17-4 stainless
They are ground on the O.D to a .001 slip fit and just slide in a 316 stainless tube then both ends are welded
The bore on the baffels is .250 leaving .014 perside
For the .223 bullet

very nice work and great clip..
Re: Hi new member building 4 suppressors
Rugger 10/22
Just finished my intregal rugger 10/22, the hard part for me was cutting the wood stock out to fit the barrel
The barrel has been cut down to 8 inches and I have used a wire EDM to cut 60 degree slots into the barrel as a gas relief on the full leanth of the barrel to keep bullets subsonic
Then I've threaded the end for this type of suppressor to go on the barrel
Then to make it as quite as possible I made a 2 inch tube at the end of the suppressor( but inside the large tube) and rolled up steal wool around a 1/4 bar .... Just to give a center for the bullet to pass
And that is at the end of the tube past the suppressor and sealed in side by a threaded end cap , it's like a steel wool bullet wipe
I Plan on this one as a muskrat killer

Sig 22
Ok just finished one made just for my sig 22
The baffel design is a little differnt than my m&p but it still works very well
I didn't have time to program the cnc so the baffels on this one was done free hand on a manual mill
And the YouTube video

Are the baffles cut only .014" per side over bore diameter all the way down the tube? That is super TIGHT!! Most muzzle brakes are bored .250" and they only extend an inch and a half from the end of the barrel. That small bore dimension should make for a very, very quiet suppressor. It doesn't leave much room for error though. Even if the machining is great and the tolerance stack-up is very small, any bullet instability could make trouble.
Will the rifle cycle without the can? How many rounds do you have down it? Wouldn't shoot cheap ammo through that baby. Ever used something like this from JBM to check the stability of the load being used? http://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmstab-5.1.cgi
Should have a minimum stability factor of 1.5. Try different scenarios by decreasing velocity and/or temperature.

Re: Hi new member building 4 suppressors
Is it just me or is the bolt on the 15/22 loud or what.. the first one I build sent me to town looking for a piece of rubber to get the bolt under control lol. I started with baffles close to your stepped cones on my 308 buildwith a aac "train whistle" blast baffle and wasn't happy with it. I went back and done modified omega baffles and kelp the blast baffle, now I'm very happy. It makes a friend gemtech look bad.. but reguardless you have done a great job very good looking machine work
Re: Hi new member building 4 suppressors
Reply to Wicked
My barrel has a 1/7 twist wich helps
The baffles are .014 clearance perside for all the baffles, ( that's the thickness of 4 peices of paper)
The O.D and I.D are machined at the same time that with the extended 1inch on the back keep everything in line
I've got over 2000 rounds of Russian FMJ through it with the suppressor being taken on and off on full and semi with no problems
I have had failure to eject a spent round without the suppressor but I don't know if that Is because it needed to be cleaned ... I don't plan on shooting unsuppressed so it's not a problem
Reply to belt_fed
I would like the m&p to cycle softly but it's almost the same as my rugger 10/22
Thanks for the compliment

Re: Hi new member building 4 suppressors
Great post! What made you decide on the ports in the stepped cone baffles?
Re: Hi new member building 4 suppressors
I like the aac and I thought I could improve on it By not welding each one in place.Schulze wrote:Great post! What made you decide on the ports in the stepped cone baffles?
That's why mine have an extra inch on the back of the suppressor as to help keep the baffles centerd and in line

Zevdogs, standing ovations for masterful machining.
What lathe did you use?
Great video.
Thanks.

Please more detail on this pic's? Porting with slots unique.

Umm the lathe is just your standard engine lathe .. ThanksHistorian wrote:Zevdogs, standing ovations for masterful machining.

The porting with slots on my 60 degree steped cones is just an idea from the AAC m4 photo
Re: Hi new member building 4 suppressors
My new colt 9mm
Cut barrel down to 10 inches pinned and welded suppressor on so no SBR
My new version of a K-baffle all 7are 17-4 heat treated stainless steel
And photos after being shot notice the burn pattern

Wicked, I plugged in the factors for a 1:8 twist Bully Barrel and got .214. Is this good or bad?Wicked wrote:Very nice machine work.zevdogs wrote:This is the baffels I went with they are heat treated 17-4 stainless
