My new 9mm K baffle desighn

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Looks nice have you considered the texture on the out side of the cone it may delay gasses you have already separated from the stream.
The only reason after 243 years the government now wants to disarm you is they intend to do something you would shoot them for!

Rough surface finish has more negatives than the positives (if there even are any) when it comes to baffles. On of the main ones is that it collects fouling much better, and makes it much harder to get off.
Looks nice Zevdogs!

This was all done on a manual lathe
All I need to do is clean up and finish turn the can and the paint with moly resin/ should be done today

The k baffles wear very easy and only took 20 minutes each ... So 5 hours to do the whole can

Well it's a trade secret but what you do is take a 60 degree 3 flute countersink and have the rpm on the lath fast enough to still cut but What makes the spin effect is the chatter the c sink leaves

Haha no one else knows so don't tell

Great job, especially for a manual deal . . . .

porting looks too big to me but hey what do I know? (based on some MFG pictures)

Ports are just a little bigger but that's because it's made for a full auto 9mm rifle and hence the baffles are all 17-4 stainless

Nice work, looks like a paulnoiseless baffle with chatter.

Why not cut the barrel to 8.5"? Still would be legal and you will notice the extra.

My colt AR sight and hand gard only allow for 7 & 1/2 inches of barrel removal .... It's the AR on the bottom and it's taken alot to get it as a little brother to the 223

Hi,

Yes, Hoop is right !, this K-Baffle reminds me that my machining skills just sucks.

Being a degree in Computers & Electronics and making Money hunting and designing Suppressors just don’t give me many time to do better. I’ll consider doing that when I finish my degree in Physics and Mathematics, not before, specially the last one. In the meantime, I do program CNC’s and just saw one of them once. I just didn't like the door, you know, i just don't like the fucking doors at all ...

Just one comment: Internal chambers are used for expansion, not compression so the cleaner the surface is the better, the faster and, of course, the cleaner.

Zevdogs, before you cut and pin and weld your Gun, you better finish the Can and have a 100 rounds of test. I do not have the dimensions but I can bet you the coin in the Pic they are going to bend. The neck is not your friend in this case …

Best,

Paul

I wonderd about that but they are .120 wall thickness of heatreated 17-4 which should be very strong
But yes I am shooting it before the pin and weld

I have seen decorative chatter and I have heard bs before but what can I say but NICE let us know how it turns out.I'm interested in the burn patterns that those swirls leave on the cone and faces of down stream baffles.

Hi,

Yes, i know they are thick and also saw you are using 17-4 but that’s not enough.

Let me give you an example (and sorry for cooling down your thread …): Consider an Apartments Building that rests into a 4 thick and good pillars. What about if you just remove one ?. The other 3 are still thick and good and bla, bla, bla … but, what about the Building ?

Your hole is that missing pillar and your long neck is just the 50th floor. Consider going shorter to the neck (or just round it up so have larger contact surface), decrease the mouse hole diameter and just angle it to 60.

Also, think about rounding the receiving base and don’t create a step.

Best,

Paul

Gotcha. I see you like to keep things simple and authentic looking.
Use sharp carbide when you cut into the bore. Keep the lathe turned up when you break through.

Hi,

The hole is too big or your neck is too long (not your, you know … your Baffle’s one …).

Think about the building at watch at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or_jkvPfCLY

It actually shows where and how K’s bend (not why and when … that’s a secret …)

Best,

Paul

Thanks I've seen that video before wich is why I made the neck on the K baffles ... As not to have a v pattern for a flex
I'll have it all painted and ready to shoot this weekend and I'll let you know how it handles

I'll also take photos of the blast burn pattern

i disagree with the above except yes i would remove the "neck" of the cone.
