300 win mag subs; possible or....
Re: 300 win mag subs; possible or....
That's a LOT of case to fill. But it is a 1:10 so you can use a heavier bullet than a 1:12 308.
But I do not think I would do it. If it works the Velocity spread will be very bad. It is with a 308 already. (over 50 fps in my loads) I can only imagine the problems with a 300 WM.
Don't you have another host to use for a .30 round? A 30-30, 308 even?

Long distance, the next best thing to being there!

I'll bet you could do it with Sr4759. I've loaded lots o[*]f really light loads in 300 win mag with it. The lightest I can recall is a 90gr hornady xtp at around 1900 fps. I would wager that 220smks, a bullet more than twice as heavy could be driven at half that speed safely.
Speer has some reduced loads published, including 150gr bullets at around 1400 fps. they have also published reduced loads for 100gr bullets as low as 16 gr. Max load for 220gr bullets is around 36 grains, you will probably be around 20gr, or a little less. Yes, you will have a loading density of about 1%, but Sr4759 is well known for its stability at very low load density.

I have some of the EBR subs. I've actually taken a doe with them.
I pulled one a while back out of curiosity. No filler, Dacron, etc. I believe I know what the powder is, but I have to verify. Give me a day or two to get back with you Delta...

D,
Are you smoking The Crack my man?
So many better choices. I know you got one, but that likely ain't the best stick. Waaaay toooo muuuuch caseeeee.
What twist is your barrel? Before doing anything else, go JBM and check stabilization of your bullet choice in your barrel: http://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmstab-5.1.cgi

I thought it was red dot, but it clearly isn't. I don't know what it is.
