Yes, it can be done.
Now I just have to wait for KAC to have a T1 and mount deal.

Re: Mid URX build with Mid gas system
Very interesting. I want to do the same thing when I get my URX middy. What exactly did you have to modify. It looks like you had to shave a bit off the top of the gas block? Did you do anything to the rail itself? Awesome pictures thanks!

Yes, In the first pic you can see I used a ball mill to make that channel a little deeper in the rail.
The rest of the work was done to the gas block to make it fit with some clearance.
Also this was done to a regular mid gas barrel not a KAC mid gas barrel.

I haven't done a regular mid length gas barrel shorter than 13.5"ish. Really curious about how well that combo works.

It has run without a hiccup. The only issues I've had were ammo related ( Olympic ).
Re: Mid URX build with Mid gas system
That's good to hear. What's the rest of your setup? Buffer, ammo, etc? Kind of curious. I've run some rifle gassed uppers suppressed only with minimal barrel between the gas port and the can. All bets were off without a can on it.

Re: Mid URX build with Mid gas system
I use this setup for 3gun and my general goto gun. Buffer is a lightweight carbine buffer, ammo is Federal M193, Winchester Q3131a and practice/pinker ammo is Greek Olympic stuff (not reliable). I was told by someone who had done a few mid gas sbr's to open up the gas port a couple thousandths if i had cycling problems without the can on, but i haven't had to do that.
