AR SBR in 9mm
AR SBR in 9mm
What is if there is the best or most ideal barrel length and twist for a 9mm ar sbr upper? I have one with a 10.5 and one with a 7 but both preform well. Is there a "ideal" set of parameters for this?

Re: AR SBR in 9mm
I don't think there is an ideal length, I personally love my 5" 9mm, with a can its around the size of a 12" barrel and stupid quiet. If you are going for longer range accuracy then you may want a little longer barrel, like 10" tops.rogerme wrote:What is if there is the best or most ideal barrel length and twist for a 9mm ar sbr upper? Downside to the 5" is that it HAS to be shot suppressed, if it were 10" then it could be shot unsuppressed as well.
just gotta base it off what your goals for your kit is.

Why does it have to be shot suppressed? Too loud or muzzle flash?

Because the barrel is shorter than the handguards and when fired your hand is in front of the barrel and burns you and just unsafe in general. Its an SD type.jnitti1014 wrote:Why does it have to be shot suppressed? Too loud or muzzle flash?

Re: AR SBR in 9mm
Thanks! Here is a link for anyone looking for it. Pretty sweet setup, I hope they make a lower that will work with 45ACP, would love that!srt-4_uk wrote:ddles is the lower

How's the quality of these lowers?
Looks like I may have found another host lower.

Re: AR SBR in 9mm
I would buy one but having a dedicated AR15 9mm lower doesn't make a ton of sense to me unless it offers something I can't get elsewhere, like a dedicated 45ACP lower. To each his own though.Tom12.7 wrote:How's the quality of these lowers?

Re: AR SBR in 9mm
I have 3 dedicated 9mm lowers, but never liked the looks of the magwell. This looks much better.
And if they do end up with a .45 lower, I'd probably jump on that also. A 4"-5" barrel .45 with a TiRant would make a fun host I'm sure.

Re: AR SBR in 9mm
I don't think theirs much difference between 5 ore 10 inches.. This is my colt I cut the barrel just infront of the sights and pinned/welded a suppressor on so no SBR

Re: AR SBR in 9mm
How do you clean the barrel without losing a patch inside the can?
Shoot softly, and carry a big clip.

If you use a patch jag you shouldn't lose it.DustyJacket wrote:How do you clean the barrel without losing a patch inside the can?

Re: AR SBR in 9mm
Blast from the past,. 4.5" barrel 1/2x28 w RCGS 9mm can, worked real well but went with a 10.5" barrel for more versatility, you can cut a 9mm barrel down to nothing pretty much, you will still need subsonic ammo, so it's a matter of what you want to do with it.. you pretty much have your bases covered with the 7&10.5 that you have. with the 10.5 you can load some +p+ and be able to use the x-tra vel that loading offers

I'm along the lines of Bender....my 5" Tros barrel if shot without my Trident just turns the Daniel Defense tube into a muzzle brake.

Hey guys, nice setups. For the ones using magwell blocks, which one did you get and how has it been?

I use a top loading Hahn for both of mine and never had a single problem with them.Vultite wrote:Hey guys, nice setups. For the ones using magwell blocks, which one did you get and how has it been?
Re: AR SBR in 9mm
I like my Spikes just due to the fact I don't have to mess with the bolt hold open lever. Two wrenches and I can run my .22 upper on it.
