Thanks Ron! That it does and gets a lot of attention from strangers. It's a good ice breaker when meeting new shooters at ranges.

That is a sweet project you have,, what do the groups look like?

what was a total price on that rig?

I am waiting to buy a Noveske 18" spr w/ switchblock right now. How does yours compare price- wise?

Thank you :)

Not sure, but if I stopped and added everything up I might go into a coma....

Not counting bipod, rings, POD-LOC...going off memory here goes

Upper - $1630 with shipping/insurance included in that....if I had added the correct KAC backup sights it would be an additional $380....I chose to buy some of the BH 77gr ammo with that money instead of having cosmetically correct looking upper even though I would never have used them. You can see in some of the "In Action" pics, the guys remove them in the field anyways.

LMT Defender Complete Lower - $289
SSA-E trigger - $200
Scope - $1,000+
Custom turrets - $122 each
Silencer - $725 plus NFA charges ie $200 tax and $75 dealer transfer

You can build a SPR or MK12 clone cheaper but I was not going to skimp on this project. I'm often asked "Ever think of another caliber during this project?". No - what makes it a MK12 is the caliber and barrel itself.

I haven't really done any group study on it other than zeroing. Just fun trips with friends so far. We were banging steel gongs out to 450 meters with consistancy and little effort. When I completed the project we were having 100º+ days here in TX...we actually had 45 days over 100º this Summer. It wasn't very fun at all to be out. Once weather was getting bearable my weekends from Sept-Jan have been in the deer woods or at work. I collect examples of military sniper rifles and the MK12 has always been one I wanted. The MK11 MOD 0 is out of my price range and I have plenty of .308 precision rifles I shoot so this filled a gap in my collection both rifle and silencer wise.

One Key Note

Post by SturmGrenadier »

As a note during this project with all the vendors I had one unpleasant experience. That was with Kenton Industries who I had ordered both turrets at the same time. Web site was down for online orders so I had to phone it in. A month later after a couple of reminder emails I received a package...with only my elevation turret. I play phone and email tag with them for a couple of weeks until finally they email and say I should get it within 2 weeks. Two weeks go by and nothing so I try contacting again and same old routine as before. Twoo weeks go by and I receive another package and it's my windage turret.....everything is good now right? It's missing the little silver bead inside the turret....

Image

Both Kenton turrets above and you can see the one on the right missing it's bead. 3-4 promising emails stating they would make it right and as to date I haven't received the missing bead.

Only after the fact of this I found out you could call the Leupold Custom Shop and get actual MK12 turrets made. I have not done this and probably wont.

Also they appear to have the new larger set screws like the .308 turrets that were on the scope out of the box.
Keton's turrets have the older style small set screws like on the MK 4 LRT scope I have on my 700 Milspec 5R.

I will not be dealing with Kenton in the future for any custom turrets.

Sorry to hear about your turrets, but you know you could have just contacted Leupold and exchange the .308 turrets for MK12 77gr turrets for free right?

Issue MR/T's have TMR reticles BTW :p
