I'm getting a lot of e-mails asking for info on what tools and material to order for the Nano wipes.
You can order all of your stuff from www.mcmaster.com
Here's what you will need:
11/16" Round Hole Arch Punch part number 3427A18 (THIS IS A MUST HAVE)
Optional 3/16" Hole punch part number 3427A57, this punch can be used to punch a hole in the center of the wipe which will enhance the life of the wipe (you will lose a little sound reduction, but not much)
Personally I prefer to use the wipes without any center hole.
Here's a direct link the hole punch page to order the punches
http://www.mcmaster.com/#hole-punches/=53uru4
As for the wipe material you can use either 1/8" or 1/4" thick polyurethane sheets with a durometer rating of 80A. If using 1/8" thick wipes you will need to use two at a time in the suppressor. A single 1/4" wipe works just fine and is actually cheaper than using two 1/8" wipes, but again it's up to you what you want to use.
Direct Link for the 1/8" Wipe Material, again 80A is what you want to use.
http://www.mcmaster.com/#polyurethane/=53uxh3
Direct Link for 1/4" Wipe Material, again 80A is what you want
http://www.mcmaster.com/#polyurethane/=53v2h4
Using the 11/16" punch you should get 289 wipes per square foot of material.
Part Numbers for one square foot of material:
1/8" thick part number 8789K212
1/4" thick part number 8789K412
If you guys have any questions feel free to ask.

With the Nano design, yes you can use JHP without worry of damaging the suppressor.RWBlue wrote:I have never used a suppressor with wipes, so pardon my dumb questions.
Can I use JHPs?
If I use JHP, will they be clogged with wipe material and reduce proper terminal balistics?
If I use JHP, will JHP reduce the life of a wipe?
What is the life (how many rounds) of a wipe?
As for how the bullet and wipe will react, I'm not sure as I haven't tested the Nano with JHP as of yet, but will soon.
Wipes should be good for 20+ rounds.

Feel free to test softer wipe material and post your results.finn wrote:Have you done testing with different wipe materials? I'm thinking of buying some softer cheaper neoprene rubber and comparing it to the PU.
In my research, the softer material will not last nearing as long.

If it's polyurethane with a durometer rating of 80A and is 1/4" then yes, you can shoot .380 thru without a center hole punched in the wipe.blacklabelop wrote:Well got my materials... never played with wipes before this stuff looks sturdy..

If you're using 1/8" material remember to use two wipes to equal the 1/4" wipe.
Persoanlly I prefer a single 1/4" wipe.
You're going to enjoy your new Nano and if you ever have any other questions please feel free to contact us at anytime.
Thanks

Re: DTA Nano Wipe Material and Tool Info
Thanks for posting that info. I've always made my own hole punches. Had I known they could be had for such a fair price before it would have saved me a lot of time.

Re: DTA Nano Wipe Material and Tool Info
Well, the post was a bit old but had the info I was looking for. Punch and sheet arrived today. I followed the instructions with the punch stating not to use a steel hammer. The punch just bounced off the poly sheet material. Is it just me?

I just ordered my punches, so I'll let you know when I get it. =)
Re: DTA Nano Wipe Material and Tool Info
I just put a piece of wood through it and then use a press to cut the wipes. A lot smoother than trying to hammer through 1/4" sheet. The 1/8" worked fine with just a hammerprimaryind wrote:Well, the post was a bit old but had the info I was looking for. Punch and sheet arrived today. Re: DTA Nano Wipe Material and Tool Info
Mine cut through like butter with a hammer, no problem. In fact I probably shouldn't have done it on the floor because I didn't expect it to go through so easily. Just my two cents.

Re: DTA Nano Wipe Material and Tool Info
stirring up an older thread.
Mcmaster does not list Durometers (that I can see). They only list Ulkltra soft, soft Hard etc.
Any idea what Duro 80 is?
Thanks
Roger

this link gets you to sheets
http://www.mcmaster.com/?error_redirect ... s/=125b66k
then on left choose 1/4" thickness
They seem to be listing it as 70A-85A sheeting (hard)
after you choose that you pick 80A
