Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

Pics as promised, .45 form 1/ with booster.

As promised pics of my newly finished .45 can

Baffles 1st The darker one is the 316 ss blast baffle, the rest are aluminum.

Complete stack..... Small spacer on top of the booster added a little volume for the expansion chamber.
I plan on duracoating the tube and knurling the front cap to match the booster. Engraving is tomorrow.

Booster assembly...I decided to go with a premade piston because I wasnt comfortable single pointing 16x1 lh threads. Booster is 316 and the spring is ss as well. (McMasterCarr)

Booster assembly 2nd view...Pins at the bottom/front of the housing are 316ss.

Complete....overall lenght is 8.875 inches, diameter is 1.530 inches

My favorite gun....And it is unloaded.
I ran 3 different loads thru it and it ate everything without a single problem.

And as always comments are welcome.
Thank you to all members of this forum for assistance and advice over the last three builds.
I will do a breakdown of my .22 can as soon as I can.

Looks good, you should anodize the baffles though, they will last much longer that way.

You haven't engraved it already?

Looks great! Love the booster. Do you have any drawings you'd be willing to share?

I'm sure it's already engraved, just turned around away from the camera.

@ B, I did'nt finish the tube till sunday morning, tested it and called the engraver monday 0915 to get it done. Today (about 6 hrs from now) was the 1st he could squeeze it in. He opens at 0900 and I'll be at the door 5 minutes before. I sent you a PM about anodizing Thanks

@ Rocker, I only have a hand sketched drawing and a picture I printed off this sight, I based the booster off them and thinned it out from there to save weight but whatever dimensions you would like just ask.

@Gremlin......I picked it up on Ebay, I fairly certain its a Tirant piston

@Kahn....The bullet impacting the dirt bank behind the target was the loudest part

Looks like it is a Evo45 piston not a TiRant. The TiRant pistons have fatter spokes.

I like it! Yet another reason for me to get out of this state (Ca.).

But that is not going to happen anytime soon :(.

Love it though.
